Hi,

I'd like to use my tb-01 rally bodyshell on a tb-02r chassis will it fit ok?Do they do a long arm/shaft rally hop-up for the tb-02r?Is there any other differences in the rally special tb-02's to normal tb-02/tb-02r,thanks

As far as I know unfortunately no TB02 rally version exists like for the TB01, as the TB02 is a more "open" design, which is good for racing but not for dirt. Tamiya makes though the 53794 Tamiya TB-02 & TA04 Reversible Lightweight Suspension Set which has wider arms but they are also lightweight and might be not robust enough for ralliyng.

Cheers

No different.

The TB-01 has a dust cover for the chassis, there's no such thing for the TB-02. The TB-02 is really an on-road vehicle.

Jabba1...for a while, i really wanted to look into converting a TB02 into a rally chassis...

from what i saw of the TB02s though....the big problems would be....

-your pinion and spur aren't enclosed.

-from what i can understand...there are no steel (not aluminum or plastic) outdrives for that chassis and i'm not sure aluminum or some hard plastic would hold up too long to rally abuse.

-because of the shape of the front uprights...dowantravel is limited. you have to get in there and start carving up the plastic. probably not the best thing to do to such a nice and expensive chassis.

is there something the TB01 isn't giving you in terms of off-road performance?

Might stick to the tb-01 and fit the long arm/drive shaft kit then.

I have a tb-02r and just thought it would be nice to have to have a rally version but looks like it's a carpet burner.

Jabba1...yeah...the long arm kit rally makes a difference on the TB01...increased ride height, more stable it seems, and a more sensetive suspension.

and i know what you mean about having a really nice looking chassis with lots of hop ups....but some times...the hop ups mean a less durable chassis....or just a chassis that you have you have to be a bit more careful with.

the thread with 10 pages has lots of photos and info on installing the long arm kit on a TB01. page 8 i think.
