It should work ok, might want to dial down the power using the throttle EPA and the punch on the ESC. If you could get decent grip it should be very fast. I have the 9T in my M04M and it's really fast but very driveable if you have sticky tires and go easy on the throttle.

It's doable. I have Mamba 4600Kv on 3s2p A123 (9.9v) in my 202mm wheelbase M04. Full bearings, steel pinion, ball diff and some soft tyres all round. It's completely over-powered, but then most of my cars are and it's just the way I like it. (Think V8 in an Escort).

My throttle EPA is still at 100%, but I have got the motor timing on lowest, and the punch control turned all the way up.

You guys are all bad influences. If I keep reading these forums, I suspect I'll have bolted a lit stick of dynamite into my motor housing shortly.

8.5 would be about twice as powerful as hobbywing 9T :P

have stuck mamba 7700 and novak 4.5 in M03s before... overpowered to the point of uselessness

I have both the 5.5T and 9T eZRun motors. You are limited by grip on both so the end result is the same regardless. The 8.5T 4000kv is more mild than the 5.5T 6000kv so it should be very similar to the 9T 4300kv. You'd have to lower the punch on both and be smooth on the throttle to drive the small M chassis cars anyway. The 8.5T 4000kv is far from a 4.5T 7700kv motor.

just spent day @ track tuning new M05 on HW 13T... half a set HPI X-patt treaddepth worth of bashing later, it'll just about go W O T around whole track

more power always good but useless if it can't put it down
