Hi all,I have a vintage tamiya 7.2v hump battery, which won't hold a charge,is there any way to pull it apart and find out whats wrong or do i not bother?

Batteries don't have a long shelf life and a sure sign of it needing replacing is when they don't hold a charge so it's time to replace it with something similar.

I've got a similar problem with my hump pack too. I'd say the easiest option would be to just get a new pack however I'm more interested in replacing my cells so, if you find a way to crack it open without severely destroying the casing, please let me know.

There is a thread and I think a tutorial here somewhere. What they did was take 2 vintage packs, cut a top from one, and a bottom from another, fit new Ni-MH/Ni-Cd cells or Li-Po soft pack inside the 2 good halves and bond them back together again.

Thanks for the help! I think i'll use it for display only and run the car with a modern equivalent. Also thanks for the quick response, this is the reason i joined this club in the first place.
