Hi,

With Christmas coming my family are looking to get me some hop-ups for my NDF-01 Nitro Thunder. The biggest thing I want (for the winter) is to add the bigger monster truck wheels (53853) and tires (53854) to gain some ground clearance on the longer grass. This requires changing the Bevel Pinion to one with 14 Teeth (53852) but I cannot find anyone stocking this part in the uK! Where is the best place to get it so I'll have it by Xmas?

Also, my misses has pretty much banned be from getting a TNX until we move to the states (in March). That said, I am allowed to blow income on hopping up the NDF, so I'm interested in what others have done to their NDFs and what they would recommend. (Do the 2 speed tranny or twin brake sets make much difference? Would you go with Tamiya's off road spring set or is there a better third party option? Is it worth upgrading the servos?, etc., etc.)

Thanks for any input.

I to have an NFD01 (Nitro Blaster) and I love it! Tho I havn't driven it since I fitted the 2 spd & the twin brake set yet. As of yet I havn't decided about the suspension ungrades (Springs & Anti-Roll-Bars). You'll see mine in my showroom.

If your going to fit these parts, do so as you build it, it'll be easier. Mine was XBG.

If you'v tried your lhs to no avail, then try http://www.etamiya.com or look on ebay, tap in ndf01 in the search plus look worldwide.

The wheels and tyres are available in the uK (see the parts link below) but the pinion isn't.

We queried this with the importer - they seemed to think it wasn't as necessary as Tamiya suggest.

Do you think the 2 speed tranny would make matters better or worse if you are using the bigger wheels and tyres - but not the recommended pinion? I've been looking to add the following to really hop it up (it's a great buggy):

53778 - Off Road Spring Set

53780 - 2 Speed Transmission

53801 - Twin Brake Set

53802 - Reinforced Drive Flange

53066 - 1280 Sealed Bearings Set

53126 - 1510 Sealed Bearings Set

53822 - Lightweight Fly Wheel

+

53853 - Monster Truck Wheels

53854 - Monster Truck Tyres

But now I am wondering if all this is stuff compatible.

Mine was also XBG but since running it on a beach last weekend I've been planning to do a rebuild anyway so I could clean it all up. That's also why I want all those parts in one go...

The 2 speeder and *any* offroad tyres are not compatible according to the packet - Tamiya says only use the 2 speed with the on-road tyres when driving on-road...

However, some are running it without problems. It depends rather how you interpret off-road.

I doubt the big wheels with the 2 speed would do much other than overload the drivetrain though.

I really start enjoying how some importers think they know better then the guys who designed the car, like also with the uk TNX fuel recommendations and the Greek importers run-in procedure... [8)]

Cheers

Howdi,i purchased my Nitro Force kit off Stellamodels who at the same time sourced me the above parts you were asking about(they weren't listed on their site)& put it all together during the build process from scratch.Although not necessary i purchased 53852 just to make it easier on the clutch, etc. The ground clearance is much better than stock but its still not as much as i thought it would be(or like for that matter)so i just jack it up all round with 2 of the larger spacers on each shock so that when its sitting under its own weight its at the highest possible point. It still handles good enough & ground clearance is more where i like it(still not as good as me old Blackfoot tho[:D]
