Strangely, I've found Carson straws to be fractionally under size leading to them fallout at the most inconvenient times.

I have no problem with lurid coloured straws for bashers, although for my "nicer" cars I prefer to keep the antenna wire completely within the shell, usually forming several loops through the body posts, you can see it here on my Stratos chassis:

I use the Tower Hobbies (made by Tactic) 2.4 controller and it's receivers use no antenna at all. Best of all, it's only about $75 US.

I found a 3 channel Futaba on Tower Hobbies for $79, and I still can't buy it

I did consider the Acoms, but I'm happy I didn't buy it. It's 2.4Ghz, but I heard it's shape and size doesn't fit nearly every user, the interface is odd and the manual is unclear, there is play on the wheel of the transmitter and it feels very plactic-fantastic. It really makes sense to buy a more costly transmitter imo

my acoms is almost 2 years old now, and there is no play in the wheel, the screen is clear and easy to use, o.k. the manual is a bit hit and miss, but it's easy to figure things out.

and it doesn't feel any cheaper or plasticy than the new budget dx3

Well two things apply to radio gear for me....1 It has to be a stick type as I just cant get away with those wheel things....and 2 I have to be able to buy it in the UK!

I prefer clear or black also, but I do have a few RC's with coloured antenna tubes.

Dont forget there are 38cm and 30cm clear tubes aswell. Longer ones moreso on the vintage tamiya's.

Is that a right-handed wrench or a left-handed wrech in the picure? I'm looking for a left-handed wrench for a mate

Am I the only one who dislikes these coloured ariel straws???

Funny, I thought I was the only one who HATES the colored straws!

Now the only way to get a DECENT straw is to get them used.

I also dislike the black antennas. Why on earth did Futaba start selling receivers with black antennas?? :D

Why can't we have the cars the way we used to back then -clear straws and white antennas!?

And it is also frustrating the fact that most the new Tamiya cars come nowadays with black straws :(

Yep, I agree. I usually put clear straws on my models because I think it looks better. Some Tamiya kits come with black ones and I just put them into a storage bin. I have a supply of 30cm and 38cm clear straws ready for use.

However, there is a rare occasion where I think a black straw should be used. I think I have 2 of them on vehicles now. The other 19 are clear.

I also have a small supply of Tamiya antenna holders (3455035) because I like the way they look and hold the straws. It's the same holder used on the Super Champ and many others. I sometimes end up putting them on new builds because I think they are better than the original antenna holder design.

If you look back in this post there is a link to fusionhobbies who do the clear straws! :(

I just got 40 two weeks ago just after the link was posted! :D
