If you love the sound of an M chassis face planting into the dirt its awesome.

Just looking at the model again, I feel Tamiya have missed a trick with there pointless splash guards. I would have prefered to see the existing solution extended to protect the RX and speedo aswell. I dont fancy their chances to much...

Indeed. I love the M-chassis (there's just something about a 540 motor in something the size of a turbo [jet] hopper) but this just looks like they put some new tires on the M05, changed the bumper and solved a problem that didn't really exist with the splash guards. The write-up indicates variable shock mounting positions, so that may be where the real innovation is...I guess?

The nice things about the splash guards is it helps keep rocks out of the rear of the chassis and the battery area. if you race it off road the car fills up with rocks and is also real hard to get the battery out. Also the front wheels throw small rocks into the gap between the rear A arms and chassis causing the A arms to lock up. The front guard is also there to help keep rocks out of the front A arms and dog bones. Most of these issues were addressed long ago with lexan when we first started running Mini Rally races here in Japan.

Is its worth buying a whole kit for some tires and a few pieces of lexan, maybe not,but at least Tamiya will more races now instead of a few times a year like before.

I would have loved to see a 4wd Mini Rally chassis. nevertheless I think it's a step forward and I'm looking forward to seeing more Off road Minis around.

Hmm.. very interesting indeed.. I like those tyres. :D
me as well.mind on the rcracer cad picture they look like a very wide tread and should give any rally car a bit of a boost of the rough stuff

M05ra upgrades. Great to see I should be able to upgrade 1 of my M05's with a single spure.

Just curious Vince, where did you source these pics from? I was at the Long Beach Grand Prix and saw it on display, along with the TRF201 and didn't have a proper camera to take pics with so I left it.

I stole them from various shizuoka Blogs. LOL

Interesting that you saw them at Long Beach. Wasn't that about a month ago?

Yeah just about. Tamiya partnered up with a big hobby shop in Anaheim and they had a booth. They were selling cars at ridiculously low prices. I got a tt gb02 buggy champ for $150. I could have spent less and gotten a kit to build, but I had to have it.

Wow. FAIL.

In a market where everyone else offers variable wheelbase, why would they be so rigid?

Because all ABC bodies are SWB?

Well that's a reason, but not a good one. since you can buy ABC bodies separately and put most other manufacturer's chassis offerings under it.

ABC been the manufacture of that RWD thing (is it really called the goose?)...

And PMSL at that image PaPeRo posted. I think its great that theyve designed RWD car that you cant fit a FWD body onto.
