To Glue, Or Not To Glue

I need to attach the tires to the rims on my TXT, as I get some massive wheel spin with the twin 550s on 14 volts.

I don't really want to do a full glue job, because I want to avoid having to buy new wheels when the tires wear out.

I was thinking of just doing spots around the rim, maybe every inch or so?

I already tried the rubber band trick, it still spins on the rims.

Thoughts?

i've never tried this myself however I believe if you put them in boiling water the glue breaks down and you don't have a problem =)

I'm guessing this is not the direction you're looking to take, but bead lock wheels are obviously designed for exactly this problem (albeit usually at slower speeds at higher loading). They also allow you to swap to your heart's content.

just use 2-3 drops of glue around each rim, even if just the inside - thats plenty to stop slippage

have never seen anyone wearout TXT or Clod tyres before... if they did, rest of car probably gone by then too

I have found the easiest thing is to use a few drops of UHU glue around the wheels rim, it not permanent and does the job. Whatever you do, do not use super glue all the way around the rim!

Reading your question,here is what I did.

I have fixed the tires with little screws on the rims and also glued them .

This is the only thing what worked on my brushless TXT .

Only with the glue every time after some runs I had to glue again.

And now I have no troubles with the rims and tires.

if you are gonna run the tires til they die, then super glue is fine. when you wanna change the tire, cut it off, leaving only the sidewall. then soak the whole thing in acetone. it will break down the super glue without hurting the wheel. i did this with my rc18t when the pin spikes wore down to slicks. don't know if the acetone will hurt chrome rims, so if that's what you have, be careful.
