Hi, have any of you noticed the new line of box art mugs that has become available in the last couple of months from a HK seller on Ebay? There used to be a guy here on TC called Boxart who had two websites with a line of Tamiya boxart items such as mugs and posters, but that guy has long gone.

I have some of the old mugs (made in England!) and the quality was very good. But these new mugs are not as good. The printing is blurred, the gamma is too dark on the reproduction of the image, and the overall look of the picture on the mug was not as good quality as I expected.

You can't see it really from the picture below that I have attached, but the old mugs look way better. 2 old mugs on the left, the new one on the right.

Still of course it's really nice to have a Fox mug and it's a heck of a lot better than having no Fox mug...

Anyone else tried them? If so, what do you think of the printing of the image?

Cheers,

Alistair G.

the Fox image one looks dreadful, part of the pleasure would be to have a clear image, but as its from HK sometimes the almost embarrasing low cost including postage is worth paying just to 'have'

I have 3 of those 1st issue UK mugs they were GREAT, dishwasher proof too!.

I think i had bruiser (my father), Monster Beetle (My mother lol) and mine was Fox (silver fox due to the ever growing amount of grey hairs lol).

I was talking today with a local company about T Shirts as they could be made quite easily although its not something I was planning on looking into.

Cheers

Yeah the image quality really sucks which annoyed me. I was quite annoyed at the cost as well though, they are 10 GBP per mug and the postage was also pricey.

Still when you love the Fox  what can you do ?!

Cheers,

My Brother is the dishwasher and so far they are 'dishwasher' proof.

At least they were until one day he got angry at me (long story) and smashed my old Hilux mug

The thing is about the T shirts that you can't really wear one in our climate in UK without something over it hiding it. Instead I MUCH prefer the sweatshirts. I bought an old RC10 sweatshirt. It looks awesome, I adore it.

Judging by the Brat and Blackfoot mugs, it kinda looks like your dishwasher is broken :)

Thanks for posting the NEW box art stuff, I had heard that Tamiya asked the old BOXART folks to cease and desist or something like that, so that is why we can't get the great stuff anymore. I wonder if Tamiya would recant that if we petitioned them to allow us groupies to have something they never offered for sale in the first place to be put back on the market.
