The thing about the CVA Mini II dampers for the TA03F is that they use a longer bottom ball link connector, this makes them longer than standard 55/60mm shocks. I just measured the stock TA03F shocks and they are about 63mm eye to eye. I've found that it's better to buy the standard 55/60mm aftermarket alloy shocks and then replace the bottom ball connectors with longer ones. As for the shocks themselves I've found that 3Racing and Exspede alloy shocks are good and cheap. For hop-ups http://www.asiatees.com/

yea if you buy a set of TRF shocks or CVAs they'll come with a set of the longer bottom ends

they're quite rarely used elsewhere these days, so many ppl would have them spare unused in their junk box too

When building new shocks for TA03 its best to work out the maximum length =droop you want them to be

and insert spacers inside the shocks to limit length before you fill with oil.

Otherwise you'll have to redo everything again.

Since I just build some TRF shocks (the hard black coating ones) for my 03F, they seem to be the correct length with no o-ring under the piston and the long lower damper eye.

What oil should I fill them with? Should I use different oil weights front and back due to the front motor set-up? What springs do I use? I'm aiming for concrete/asphalt parking lot use...

(okay, some info on the car: carbon chassis, carbon shock towers, ball diffs front and rear, will run it using a EZ-Run 13T and a HPI Nissan Skyline R34 body)

anything 40-60wt with 2-hole pistons will be ok

they're so vertical and the stroke is so short, it doesn't really matter

if you've built it with conventional layout (no non-std battery location) the balance is pretty much 55:45

HPI R34 shell's nose may be too low & short to clear 03F front gearbox

I'll run it with lipo, so the weight distribution will be more biased towards the front. As for the HPI body, the front doesn't look much shorter than on the Tamiya Skyline bodies that came with certain TA03's.
