Looks like it will be a similar size to the current 1/18th cars and will be compatible with their electrics. Thankfully Tamiya decided not to "go their own way" on scale. Hopefully this will give micro cars a fresh injection of popularity.

What a great concept [8D] There could be a whole family of 1/18th 'retro' buggies - Hornet, GH etc. and if they did a 4wd chassis (a la rc18t) then the sky's the limit - 1/18th scale Hotshot/Boomerang/Thundershot anyone?

A mini Monster Beetle would be fantastic.

The uSA site shows that the scale is 1/16 which seems an odd scale to pick as most other micro cars are 18th? Still great to see though what ever the scale!

The Kyosho Mini Inferno is 1/16th scale, I suspect that would be its main competitor in japan. The slightly bigger scale makes it so much more capable off road compared to the 1/18th trucks.

Being a 1/16th buggy I suspect it is actually only slightly bigger than the 1/18th scale trucks.

very cool.

And for James, I have actually already seen the mini Monster Beetle....

Long story, but Otley Modelsport had one built from a mini kit and some tam tech rc gear !

It was tons of fun to drive !

ok, literaly got a hold of the prototype today at the Tamiya GP.

From the drawing id expected it to be more squished up like an inferno, but its actually more streamlined and very scale. Very lightweight and the how they have reproduced the body, wheels, side guards and bumpers as per the original is very nice.

Retail price will be Y19800 and due February

Hop ups available will include mini sports tuned, al wheel hubs, turnbuckles, gear case, and suspension shafts.

Also there was a new chassis announcement the DD-01 (Direct Drive). This is rather odd as its essentially a F103 chassis converted to a touring car. They are even rereleasing the formula heat sink motor mount for it.

And on a sadder note the Mazda 787B rerelease has been cancelled for now...

can't wait to see this. At my club the most popular cars are Associated RC10L3tourers and Corally CCTs, both touring car size pan cars. Great for upsetting touring car racers when you turn up at a club and disappear into the distance.

As a class it hasn't taken off, let's hope this will generate more interest in 1/10th pan cars.
