The Various Dmd-units

While I understand and see the need for tank specific MF-0X units (as they contain the sound for the tank in question) I do not really see the need for all the DMD-units. I know the T01 was for the DMD Sherman and only has two receiver cables and that the T02 is for the 1:35 RC Tank range. But what differentiate the rest from each other?

Does anyone know why there are so many? Or are they simply one and the same (T03 and upwards) with different stickers on?

the dmd for the Tiger and King tiger differ from the Jagdpanthr dmd because the tigers and KT dmds have the rotation sound and the Jagdpanther one does not, even though they have the same engine, machine gun and Cannon fireing sound

I forgot the Jagdpanther, thanks for reminding me! Given that the Jagdpanther DMD differs from the rest of the current line it would perhaps only make it identical to the DMD-T01 used in the DMD Sherman as that too lacks turret control in the DMD?

I ask because there are several tanks that have the same features but still have different DMD units. That puzzles me as Tamiya usually apply the logic of reusing whatever can be reused where ever possible.
