tickz 0 Posted May 13, 2010 Afternoon all A few months back I told you story about how in work one day I found a tamiya box in a skip at work on a building site...... Turns out it was this...... A fine skip find, I think you will agree. (the body has had a dog chew it up but it goes a treat,if anyone knows a body going for a toyota monster racer- let me know) I have told this story of good fortune on tamiya club before, some of you will know. But there is more...... After I pulled the hi-lux out the skip, my boss turned up and over a coffee my work mate and he ribbed me for being a skip fairy etc, my boss then says he used to have a model car made by tamiya, I told him to bring it in................. He brought it in today......

Singapore_959 18 Posted May 13, 2010 Lol, you have the iconic Tamiya offroad model. I suggest you do a little forum searching to learn about it The wiring has been a bit modded, including the holes for it sticking out of the battery box. Original black bumpers are rare, they changed to grey as the production numbers increased. Have fun!
Hibernaculum 933 Posted May 13, 2010 Wow, great find! Yes as Singapore said, you have the model which all collectors want, and which has just been re-released. But you have an original, first released in 1979. Take care of it, and do it up. It's a pleasure to work on, and deserves a careful clean and new body paint. You can remove the existing paint quite easily. Also, you are very lucky to have everything that was in the box. All the box inserts, charger, battery box, manual, decals!, transmitter box, etc etc. All of that stuff is PRECIOUS, and collectors love to own it. Look after it. If you ever wanted to start collecting vintage Tamiya, you could scarcely have had a luckier find than this one. So don't sell it (unless you absolutely don't want it). Put it all on your shelf. Well done cheers, H.
