Well I've posted a few times concerning my fox. Mechanical speed control went out, replaced it with ESC radio went wild and wrecked it, bought a new chasis off ebay, bought new radio every thing seemed fine, BUT it now goes faster in reverse than forward seems like something is reversed. I took the old gear box apart and it seems that there is no reverse gear and that it should go the same in both directions. When you hold the car and go in forward and then reverse you can definitely tell its running better in reverse. Anyone have any ideas before I get mad and shoot the thing with my 12 gauge!

Thanks

I would assume it's nothing to do with the gearbox. It's the either the esc setup (not sure exactly how though) or the motor brushes are worn. What motor and esc set up are you using? Also, I don't own a fox so I'm not certain, but i'm sure no tamiya 2/4wd buggy's of that era have any special reverse gear. Hope I have read your post right.

Could it be as simple as flipping the servo reverse on the transmitter then swapping the motor wires? what ESC have you fitted? If it has a brake before going into reverse then it should be quite easy to tell if its running backwards - if you go from backwards straight into forwards does the car go instantly or delay a little before moving?

Some ESC's also have a led that changes colour when you hit full speed - this doesnt normally happen in reverse :)

I'm with the ESC programming as well, certainly makes the most sense!

if it's an old brished motor, it certainly could be possible brush failure though, I've had a similar thing happen on a silver can that was well beond its "use by". Just cheuck another in ther to prove the motor out.

Well just out of my own experiance, I`ve hed brushed motors that are meant to run sower in reerse than forward so maybe you just need to swap the motor wires. Then re set you esc.
