Hi

If you wonder how the combination of a King Blackfoot body on a shortend 3-speed Mercedes truck chassis does, please have a look at the pictures in my showroom.

Cheers

I was very surprised myself to see how good this body and the chassis will fit together. The chassis of the Mercedes Truck has been shortend by 3.0 cm using hobby-market aluminium-rails. I drilled the holes according to the original frames. The 3-speed gearbox has been set more backwards to the back axle, allowing that the stearing-rod could be placed behind the front-wheels.

The body was new but damaged: the roof was broken over the windshield (therefore I could get the body free of charge). I cut out the roof-window and glued it into the roof for fixing the broken roof. Then the roof was fillered and grinded and then painted. The mirrors and handles on the back are from an old and used Tamiya Globeliner.

The Truck wheels looked better as I thought but they are not correct. But I'm still looking to find some better wheels. But this would be a little bit difficult beause the back-axle is to narrow for single wheels.

Cheers

Would you be able to use a rear axle from an XC (Pajero MTW etc..). Those are wide enough for single tire and are probably the correct length to fit that Blackfoot body.

On the other hand, with the extra rubber in th back and a powerful motor, you could have a nice wheelie machine which doesn't look like a monster truck.

Juggernaut was my favorite too. But I had the damaged and therefore free of charge King Blackfoot shell. But I hope that one or some of you will try to build such a combination (with Juggernaut, Clod Buster, Bullhead or?) too.

Very impressive truck. I was going to do this but decided on the path of using something bigger, so i used a Juggernauts instead. The Tamiya 3-speed big rig tranny is absolutely bomb proof, despite it's small size and being all 'plasticky'.I have had zero durability problems with it being used on a monster truck driveline.

I ended up labelling my truck the 'Neo-Bruiser'. The link below goes to my Tamiyaclub showroom...

Oh, wow, that 3-speed Juggernaut looks awesome!!

You should make a tutorial about how to install the three speed gearbox in that monster truck!

Best regards,

Well this must set a new record for thread resurrection.

Unlikely to happen as Weeb Beano hasn't been on the site since January 2003.
