hi all

,

i was looking at ads on Ebay & saw one for 'Power Caps' ; they are a silver cylinder with a positive & a negative wire attached, & are to be soldered in between the battery & the ESC...

the ad said they improve throttle response when you give it the gas quickly, so i suppose they are a capacitor of some sort (electronics are'nt my strong point...)

my question is has anyone used these, and do they work ? - i 'm thinking about trying them, but knowing how some of these supposed 'tune-ups' turn out it could either just do nothing, or worst case fry the ESC, so i thought i'd see if anyone thinks they are worthwhile - any advise on these would be much appreciated....

Power caps are soldered in parallel with the battery at the ESC wire terminals. Their job is to prevent voltage depression under load. This is supposed to result in slightly more punch when applying power. Of course the cap dumps instantly, so it's debatable how much it really helps. If your ESC was designed to use a power cap, it should have come with one in the package. Most race ESCs do. Have a look at the Novak GTX, GTB, KO VFS-1, and all similar models... These race ESCs always have huge power caps.

I seriously doubt you will feel the difference though.
