I've been offered a RS4 pro first gen by a local racer for what seems like little money ($60US).

It's a complete roller with some upgrades (cant remember what) with enough spares to build a second one out of (mostly) NIB parts.

The idea is to have something cheap and get me away from the TT01 although the seller says it wont be competitive

with todays top cars in mod class, but will be 10x better than my TT01 and would be suitable for me in stock class.

I realise it's a 10+ year old chassis. Any opinion's/criticism appreciated.

Would prefer to hear about problems, attributes etc

Cheers

Hey I race slightly newer HPI Cyclone Andy Moore edition approx 4 years old and I struggle to get parts already. I agree with the seller that the car will be more competitive than a TT01 but with no parts you cant race :)

Good luck with getting more answers on this.

Thanks Hedge :) Yeah I guess if I break something that I dont have doubles of I'm probably stuffed.

I was hoping to find out what is prone to breaking/wearing out or other peoples opinions on this chassis but I cant even find that :)

Cheers

I think the RS4 and my cyclone share a number of parts. If your racing indoors then the C hubs are most vulnerable. Over time (6 MONTHS) the drive cups on my spool wear out and I break a front or rear arm once every 3-4 months. Outdoors you should be OK and simple wear and tear on the drive chain will be your biggest issue.

Nah we dont have and indoor track here. I hope you mean drivetrain as the RS4 pro is belt driven, and it has a bunch of belts with it (half a dozen).

If I dont find any more info by this weekend, I may opt out, probably better buying something current or easier to get parts for ^_^

I appreciate your help, cheers :)

Why did I write "drive chain" B)

I would go more modern if I where you.

Haha I though maybe they had gone the 'chain' route like kyosho did.

Yeah maybe I should, I'm hoping to see the guy today.
