Thundershot Vintage Motor

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need some help in identifying a motor, it came with my original 80's Thundershot kit.

It looks like a regular Silver can, however has a white endbell. (all my other silver can's have black.)

I'd like to replace it like for like if possible as I want to keep the Thundershot as accurate to the period as possible and having just reinstalled the correct Futaba radio gear and MSC, powering the motor makes a god awful high pitched shriek.

Picture Attached

Any help would be gratefully appreciated in either souring another or cleaning/repairing this one.

Thanks,

Nick.

The motor with the white plastic endbell and vents was a Mabuchi one - I seem to remember its written around the bearing area on the plastic end - they were used by Mardave back in the early 90's so there may be a source there?

There was another motor with a white plastic endbell called some like Igorashi but these didn't have the vent holes - they still had the magnet retaining dimples though

Thanks for the info, hopefully I can source one from somewhere.

There's no writing on the motor anywhere though.

Its a Johnson. If you take off the motorplate, you will see some writing at the front of the motor. Im sitting with one identical right here.

PM me if you want, I can live without it...
