What are the benifits of a brushless motor? We most likely do all the mods in a couple of months so we'll notice what difference they make. Would like to thank everyone for their help and suggestions so far.

Longer runtimes, Less required maintenance due to absence of brushes, Higher speed range - no mechanical limitation imposed by brushes/commutator, it is more expensive when you combine the esc and motor but I only run brushless, what I like is that I can program my esc to whatever condition I need, run 2s lipo or 3s lipo, with the flexability of being able to put more volts through the same motor to get more speed (on lower kv motors for 3s lipo and over), I can set my brushless to act like a silvercan if I wanted it too.

I won't go to in depth as I may start a war with the brushed motor fans LOL, its happened a few times....lets just say once you've gone brushless you wont go back...trust me.

Where can I get some aluminium body mounts from? I've searched on eBay but couldn't find any. I could make some at work but getting the material could be a bit tricky. Any help would be great

Gob loads of torque, even on nimh the thing will wheelie 2/3rds through it's max speed. Bag's of fun for you, but may be a little much for a kid, especially if he has limited RC experience (and stock body mounts). You could do what Zak says and turn the punch down or even throttle position on the controller for the little guy, and just wean him into it as he get's more used to it.

The other thing with brushless is your steering gets so much worse, almost non-existant, not sure why that is, ...TA-Mark? ;)

I took my 3300kv out and went back to a technigold, now I'm taking the technigold out and going back to a disposable Sport Tuned [/wuss]

I bought my alloy mounts off ebay, but the seller was a member on here and I cant for the life of me remember his username, sorry :D

I've seen these ansmann 75mm racing aluminium dampers. They come in sets of 2, I was going to get 3 sets and do the 3rd shock mod as well. Could you please tell me if these will be alright for the lunch box, which is now on order and hopefully be here Monday so I could start building while on nights.

Yes they should fit the lunchbox, they are almost 3 inches, the question is are they any good?,where did you buy yours from gresh?, has anybody done a 4th shock mod and just space them out slightly, the mod would be the same just abit further apart?, would use up the extra damper too ;)

What does everyone use to mount the 3rd shock to the top ??......I know some people use u mounts but where do you buy those from? EDIT are these them https://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=31566

Oh and when I saw your post twice I thougt I was either going mad or it was groundhogs day again  only messing gresh .

I'm ordering my lunch box from modelsport, some bearings of eBay. It's just the oil shocks I'm struggling with, don't know which ones to get. I also thought about using the u brackets and thought they came in the kit. The other thing I'm struggling with is some three millimeter ball links ( I think that's what they are called) for the chassis stiffening.

The U mounts do come in the kit there are four of them - but when you upgrade to dampers you will use all four and wont have another one for the mod, the link I posted are the correct ones. Its funny how we are both in the same boat mate, dont happen very often, Im just after some good ones without spending to much money, looks like Ill have to buy 3 sets of cva dampers if I cant get any help. Have no idea about the chassis mod. Im also wondering what oil to get ??

U mounts that come in the lunchbox kit... BS1 9805082 Parts on page 19 ad replacing with cva short unit ii on page 17.

It's the same for me. I've heard and read that many different types of shocks that I'm starting to get confused. I think I'll have a look at the manual online and see what it has to say. I've managed to find some ball links now as well

Aaarrgghhh, I hate it when a new kit comes and I cant start the build without the bearings ect.....What I do is when that happens is start with the body and I take all week getting it sprayed up perfect :P

hey zak, as you are very local to me (i guess we are about 10 miles apart) where are you picking up your lunchbox from?

Hey 30cms, I have to make a day of it mate with the family, I travel from the west midlands to the east midlands LOL but its worth it, I bought my Kyosho inferno ve from them last time, a really nice family run place, I dont just stick to Tamiya, I dont have much Tamiya stuff anymore as my mamba max's keep beatin em up so I buy stuff that can handle the power better....my kyosho inferno ve is so much fun I love it, my rustler vxl is a scream too, for bashing anyways, I dont like saying to much about other makes, as it is Tamiyaclub after all...saying that though I will always love Tamiya and its classic's thats why I want a lunchie, funny thing is that this should be able to take the mamba power, well the gears should, dunno about keeping it on its wheels :P This model shop stocks what I want...I saw the HPI firestorm flux in there last time and if the wife hadn't of been there I would of bought it :P , the odds I pick it up next week along with the lunchie are pretty high, id say about 95% :P

Anyway enough of me going on its at Lincolnshire, Ill find the website if you want it but you may not want to travel that far

EDIT..its called TB Toys and Models by the way... http://www.tbtoys.co.uk/hpi-183-c.asp for the heck of it. They stock more than whats on there website mate but I did have a quick look and the lunchie is on there, gonna have to phone them tomorrow, maybe there in stock already :)
