Hi,

After a short break ( 20 years, Lol ) I decided to start some 1/10 offroad racing again. Could someone please advice me how to prepare the tires correctly? I found some tutorial vids but most refer to 1/8 tires so I'm not sure what to do. 20 years ago we had no tire inserts etc. so everyting was much more simple. I got me a set of Proline Holeshot tires incl. inserts for my 4WD buggy. The inserts are just simple foam rings and seem to be quite wide to me, they are wider than the tire itself. Fitting those inserts into the tire results in a belied surface which feels somehow firm. I'm only used to onroad wheels and the use of pre shaped inserts so this seems quite strange to me. Furthermore I ask myself if I should vent the wheels. If so should I drill holes in the rims or punsh holes in the tire?

Maybe these are stupid questions so please don't shoot the old noob :)

Cheers, Norbert

I run Holeshots (with the provided inserts) on my 501X and they are great tires/tyres for the hard clay surface I race/run on. Make sure the inserts are correctly placed inside the tire before mounting/gluing to the wheel. I never drilled holes in tires or wheels.

What 4WD are you running??

Thanks mate, I'm running a Lazer ZX5.

Awesome 4WD buggy! My friend has the ZX5 and he uses holeshots also, no drilling needed.. Hope that helps.

We did drill the wheels (not the tires) on that one...
