Hi

I'm looking for different and interesting/cool bodyshell's that will fit my ta01's as I'm a bit fed up with the normal Lancia Delta (I have 3!) and Scooby ones. So can anyone tell me if the Datsun 240z, Nissan 350z or Mazda RX7 bodyset's will fit the ta01 chassis?

Also if you have any other shells that will fit and are cool/interesting/different then let me know and give pics if you can please! :)

Cheers

Most Tamiya Touring cars have one of 4 body hole positions. On the early cars the fronts were all the same (ta01 ta02 ta03 tl01 ff01 ff02) with 1 of 2 rear post options. The kits came with both sets of mounts. The later cars had the option of bumper mounted front posts (ta04 tb01 tb02 ta05 tt01) I can't remember offhand if there was an option for the rear of those chassis. The IFS cars have another front post option. My biggest concern with the ta01 chassis is the chunky front end that doesn't allow very low profile bodies. I have successfully fit the early NSX bodies, r32 and r33 skyline bodies, supra, lancia, and calibra bodies. I have noticed holes in the front bumper that may allow the forward body holes to be used but I haven't tried it. I would use the list of restricted bodies for the ff03 as a reference to what probably won't work on the ta01 chassis.

Yes the low front profile is what concerns me about the 3 I listed but I REALLY want to fit these to the ta01's I have and preferably using the existing mounts if possible. I know the Datsun will fit a tt01 so I'm thinking it will fit the ta01 too, but if anyone can confirm or correct me on this please do.

You mentioned a list for the ff03 chassis, where would I find this?

TT01 is not too chunky; not low enough to fit the Countach properly but most other front-engine bodies should be ok

TT01 or TA01?

I have a few TA01's and want to fit the RX7, 350Z and 240Z shells to them.

Now I know the Datsun 240Z was released on the DF03ra chassis and I have seen it advertised for a TT01E chassis so I just want to know if it and the other 2, Mazda RX7 and Nissan 350Z, will fit the TA01 chassis?

Also did Tamiya make any US muscule cars? Like the Dodge Viper or Charger? Would love one of those! :D

Don't think Tamiya did, but HPI certainly do. Plymouth Cuda, GTO Judge, Chevy Camaro, couple of different Mustang variants too. They do a Charger designed for the Savage, so the wheelbase is too long for a normal chassis. All of the others are the standard 260mm though afaik.

Hmm like the sound of the camero and mustang shells! Any links to pics and or site to buy in the uk?
