I have a question...i guess all my ranting here about how I love the hilux was making a scene (sorry if it's disruptive, I haven't got a feel for the forum yet), as a member offered me a NIB Bruiser for $700. Appears to be in perfect shape. Do you guys think this is a fair price for a NIB Bruiser kit? :) still new to this, so figured I would ask. seems they retailed for about 40,000 Yen which is like $500US or so, so the price seems reasonable. Since the hilux is out of my league, I thought maybe a bruiser would be a fun comprimise. Any thoughts guys?

NIB Bruiser for $700 sounds like a scam.CAUTION.

He seems to be real has quite a few posts even. So $700 is very low then? Like seems too good to be true? Thanks for the fast response and looking out for me twisty!

5am here...nite guys!

Even one with a tatty box would be worth at least double that, ask him if you can collect it and pay cash or send a friend round for it.

It's local so I would pay cash, one of my friends is a police officer, and I was thinking of asking him to go with me to pick it up, just to be safe. With the economy how it is the seller said he needs to sell it, and wants to only locally and not online. I can't blame him on that, I'll go to check it out, then maybe go to the bank with the seller, seems like a good guy to me. been up all night, thanks again for all your help and advice! have work in a few hours and need some rest!

If it's a local purchase, and you can go round with cash and make sure it's all sound before buying it - then get in there.

If it were a blind purchase via post - I'd be a little cautious

Nice price though!! Awesome kit too. HAVE IT

Don't worry your posts are very interesting, not disruptive at all, we need new things to talk about or the forum gets stale. You're very welcome here.

The problem with TC is there is no buyer protection. Maybe you could pay with a credit card and then get payment protection that way? I don't know how that would work but I know that if I order anything from a shop / business using my credit card then I am protected against fraud etc.

I would only buy from long standing TC members. I have only ever sold one item via TC as of yet, but that went smoothly at least.

Otherwise how do you know that this TC member is not a young kid scamming you?

700 USD is very low for a NIB Bruiser, that's all I know!

I should probably say we are rebuilding, as you guys have helped a ton!

$700 for a NIB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats about how much the Mountaineer was when it came out in 1990ish. Becareful, bring a buddy to get your back. If you get that for 700 and its legit, steel of the century!!!!!!

Ahh you're back again! How's about sticking around a while?

Like I said you're welcome here, there's lots of free help, stick with the old faithful on here (long standing members) and you won't go far wrong. There's many persons with very valuable knowledge on here. I'm sure someone will have the answer to your problems if you stick at it.

Did you sell the Hilux yet? Or are you keeping it?

What did the Bruiser turn out to be? I love intrigue and mystery LOL.

Cheers,

I just got WAY too into it, lack of sleep, general obsessing...ok a lot of obsessing, and lalck of food got the better of me. ;)

Sell it? Nah...unless i need the money for survival....or a 1:1 dream car!! ;) I'm just too attached to it now. Represents a lot to me, and i know to the previous owner.

 Need some front hubs still, but oh well, sometimes the 4x4 works. the hilux is such a tank anyway, it brutes its way through stuff even in two wheel!

Cheers my friends!
