While I do know there are more SRBs than modern race cars here, I still think there is room for a TRF S.I.G. I hope I am not the only one as I decided to create such a special interest group! Hopefully, it can become a meeting place for all TRFs that are here on TC.

Is it just for pure "built from a NIB TRF kit" models or would my TA04-TRF be okay to sign up with?

The idea was to create a S.I.G. for all TRFs. Dressing up a standard kit with TRF parts does not make it a TRF.

However, if you have done a complete conversion and the end result is a complete TRF speced car, I see no problem as that is a completely different thing. It is the TRF cars we would like to gather, not the boxes they came in.
