I have two cars at my parents house. I went to use them both with my son, they both have Tamiya TEU-101 ESCs in them. The steering works fine on both, but no forward or reverse?! ALL leads are in, all black wires are facing outwards of the receiver when you connect them, and the steering servo is i the correct channel (1).

There is no sound from the unit beeping wise, just that the LED is flashing constantly fast.

Any clues? It's the same problem in both cars which seems weird?!

Apart from the obvious-check transmitter batteries, check all connections again, check Tx and Rx crystals are in their respective sockets, Rx antenna ok, Tx antenna screwed in properly, try reciever and esc in different model... after that maybe just try setting the esc up again?

Best of luck

Hi guys,

Yup motors plugged in. Very strange, perhaps the controller has had it? Either that or the crystal in the transmitter? It seems bizarre that both are not working though. I tries to reset the ESC by pressing the set button but the light kept flashing the whole time in the same fast way, very strange?

Have you tried swapping the steering servo from channel 1 to channel 2? If the steering servo works with the throttle stick (or wheel) then it's not your transmitter or receiver that is the problem...

Have you tried setting up the ESC's again?

When I've had the ESC flashing before, it was usually because the main battery was low - if you're sure yours is charged - check that the main connectors are nice and clean - if you're still using the old Tamiya connectors (molex) you can end up with a very poor contact if the battery hasn't been used for a long time (lots of blue corrosion on one of the pins)...

Hi there, yup I swapped the leads around and the steering still worked in channel 2 as well as channel 1 which is what confused me so much?

The batteries are charged (I tried THREE different ones!!) so I really am confused! Will clean all motor connectors again but if the LED keeps flashing on both ESCs, does that not mean something else?!!

According to the manual, it sounds like it thinks the receiver is switched on but the transmitter is not - which seems really odd?

Make sure you also clean the battery/ESC connection - its the battery connectors that seem to get corroded...

Thanks for all of your help, looking into it right this minute and report back!!...... I think it must be a dodgey transmitter for some bizarre reason, the trouble is i'm at my parents house and I only left one here, I have others at home but thats not good to test right here and my house is a 3 hour drive away!

Just been looking on a few forums and by the sounds of it your receiver is fried - are you using the same receiver in both? If you've got another receiver to try that would probably be a good idea...

Malakite,

didn't you have the emore or less the same problem last month with a TEU104? Or am I missing the point?

Yes, hope this one doesn't conclude again with "I've been very stupid"!!!

Mud.

When they do this for me they are not setup. Flashing means it's in the the first step of the setup. The setup calibrates the ESC to match the range of the transmitter. It is possible to setup the ESC so that the three points (full throttle, full brakes, neutral) are all in the neutral position and the ESC does nothing.

Step 1: Unplug the motor (One wire is enough).

Step 2: Turn on transmitter then turn on car.

Step 3: Press the setup button for 3 seconds (LED will flash).

Step 3: Hold full throttle on the transmitter and press the ESC setup button again (LED will now double flash).

Step 4: Hold full reverse on the transmitter and press the ESC setup button again (LED flashing will stop).

Step 5: Turn everything off.

Step 6: Plug the motor back in.

Step 7: Turn it all back on again and try it.

Few things to check on the transmitter: Make sure the transmitter is setup for 50:50 and not 70:30. Mine complains when I try to use the 70:30 setting and I can't get the ESC to complete setup. Ensure the throttle trims of the transmitter are zeroed before running the setup procedure.
