When I got back into Tamiya in 2004 I also went on a crazy spending spree of buying every single toy, bicycle and and game I could ever remember owning as a child/teenager. My mission was simple : find each item in a condition as close to perfect as possible.

So apart from the obvious vintage Tamiya kits I obtained, I also managed to find some fantastic examples...sometimes stuff that was also NIB just like the R/C stuff. I found a brand new limited edition Raleigh Bomber that had been sitting in storage for 25 years and various electronic games such as Astro Wars that were NOS.

One item that eluded my search was BigTrak, the programmable electronic vehicle from MB electronics. Not that there were not plenty of examples available but there were never many that were in pristine condition and the ones that were always went for prices that I was not prepared to pay. Another reason for my hesitation was that Big Trak was one of the very few 80s toys that I never actually owned. For some reason I just never got round to asking Santa for one.

Well anyway my mad collecting phase eventually came to an end and I sold on some of the stuff and I lost interest in ever getting hold of a vintage BigTrak....until the other day when I only notice that it has been re-released in apparant identical form to the original...albeit by another company called Zeon and not MB electronics...and for the meagre sum of £35!

So my question here is for BigTrak afficionados on here (there must be some surely!)...what is the new BigTrak like? And how does it compare to the original?

I already know I'm gonna buy this new one but some views and opinions would be nice.
