As we all know about the Re Dyna storm has a Pink Non rebulidable Acto Power Motor with no sticker ( Well mine Did)

My D/S was built per instructions with motor and pinion . One its first run it was some what dissapointing for a 14t motor.

After a few more packs it started to get better as the brushes bed in and on its first outing it was pretty quick. So i thought i might buy another one for a spare as i still like brushed motors and are getting hard to find in Mid winds 13 to 15t. Jason's store had the re re motors for sale at $22 + post so i bought one thinking i can pull the arm out later and put it in a mod can.

It arrived today and at first looked the same as mine ( pink and no sticker as the add photo ) Than i noticed gold brush hoods and than i noticed 2 end bell screws. This thing is a proper mod motor with adj timing.

Told my mate and he bought the last 3 he had.

Anyone else noticed this or come across this motor. Is it out of a Original D/S kit. ?????

Thanks

Jason's been selling them for ages.

It's odd because they are listed as coming from the re-re DS (or at least they used to be listed like that) but people quickly cottoned on to the fact that they different and are in fact rebuildable.

Real bargain. I bought a couple - including one specifically to go into my original DS.

The differences are covered fairly comprehensively covered in this thread here --> Pink Power Comparision including some detailed comparison shots.

Don't why Jason lists them in the way he does though.

Thanks Guys.

I think its a real bargain at $22 for a 14D motor thats got bearings and rebuildable.

Its weird that Jason sell these and looks to be so much better than the re re dyna storm has in it.

Cant wait to try it out.

when i bought mine from jason they were listed as being Tamiya hand-out motors, unused..

same as the proper acto pink motor, just minus the sticker.

That is exactly correct. They are the first run of true Acto Power Pink motors. I have all three versions myself and it is definitely the same as the boxed Acto 14T. You will also notice the hand-out motor is a lot more powerful than that cruddy DS re-release motor. I couldn't be happier with mine...

Funny thing is it can actually trip the over-current protection in my CPR P160-F when it has a small lipo in it. No nimh battery ever did that...

There's one more left (I just grabbed one)...

Interestingly, he's got the boxed version with sticker for £50!

I managed to get a NIB one off eBay for only $9(us) just last year...

It wasn't entirely a pleasant experience dealing with this "Jason" guy. I purchased one of these pink motors a couple of years ago, and he sent me one with the outside coating chipped in various places around the can. This annoyed me something awful. The motor appeared to be brand spanking new, but I needed it also for my shelf queen. I contacted him with the issue and he gave me the "sorry, no return" line. I used some negative feedback persuasion to at least give me a discount on another one. He did, then banned me. LOL. I will never do business with him again, not even for a stick of gum.

That was my experience.

If anyone really wants one of these motors, make sure you emphasize that you want it new, and cosmetically undamaged.

I have always founf Jason to be very good to deal with - sometimes a little slow in responding but he has always made right any orders he has stuffed up even to the point where he sent two rear pairs of rims when I had oprdered a complete set. He sent me two front pairs so I ended up with two complete sets - I was more than happy and have purchased off him many a time.

Jason has become one of the biggest sellers of r/c staff and we here in TC have something to do with it..My experience is that the last two years he just throw the parts inside the box and send them out. No worries for damages whatsoever...:-( Its pitty.... but as we know he has many many bargains...

I had a look at the Acto Power motor, but I hesitated to purchase any, as the effiency is spec'ed at just around 50% whereas the RZ and TZ Stock runs at around 75%. If that is really correct, the Acto will generate twice the heat to perform the same job.

The main reason, I was interested, was because of the timing adjustment, as I was considering it for my Twin Det (One motor runs reverse). But at 50% effiency...I don't think so.

Did any of you experience the Acto Power getting very hot?

PS: I have used Jason some 4-5 times with no problems.

I went to buy one last night with an order, no dice

Even worse when your MFC-01 is faulty and you get the 'sorry no return' line. I'm now stuck with a $300USD dud.

Agreed, if the part is actually wrong, in my experience Jason will usually send out a replacement FOC, Which is reassuring.

Also we have to remember Jason is quite cheap on almost all parts he sells, and if the likes of Jason wasn't around, we would have no choice but to be buying through the teeth from overpriced 'zomg-there's-only-one-of-these-on-the-internetz-now-i-can-hike-the-price' sellers in the UK or pay international 'I-cant-be-bothered-getting-a-shipping-price-outside-the-US' priority mail of $35 worldwide to send you a lonely packing peanut.

Worse yet, you could get a soggy mashed box of a NIB from HK and the seller plays dumb about it.

(I realised I've just alienated myself but I know most of you are quietly smiling at the truth of my generalisation :D )

So yeah I will continue to buy off Jason. If you take into account the price we pay for parts off him, he is actually very good value and I guess there has to be a shortfall somewhere and 'no returns' is somewhere he has to cut costs to make these prices.

The Acto is a mod motor, so yes it will produce a lot of heat. Especially if you gear it incorrectly. If geared correctly to stay cool, it will still tax your ESC and batteries much more compared to the Super Stocks.

Yes the latest super stocks are probably some of the best brushed motors around. I plotted out this torque graph to compare different motors based on Tamiya's specs, and the TZ/RZ motors are really amazing. They are 23T motors that perform like the 14T motors of yesteryear. Just look at how much more grunt the RZ has when compared to the older Super Stock RR:

Of course sometimes it goes much deeper than just output and heat. I like running vintage motors and ESCs for nostalgia...

I think there are quite a few posts about Jasons service (lack of it more like) on the TC forums, which is a shame really as he does have some goo and well priced good stuff and some not so well priced stuff (Seems his vintage stuff can be cheap, but his re-re and re-issue stuff is VERY overpriced compared to other sellers), i bought 3 kits from him 12 months ago and after 3 weeks not arrived i emailed him, the usual brush off email was received, week 4 i emailed again asking for tracking, no reply, week 5 finally got reply to my 4th email asking for tracking saying they will be delivered in next 3 days (Helpfull? not really its been almost 5 weeks!), 3 days later no package, so opened up dispute on paypal, funny tracking numbers arrived on dispute within 12 hours!!. Anyway they arrived end of week 6 and he subsequently blocked me for asking him for tracking numbers, jesus h man get serious, in my book the guy is a TOOL but then again several UK sellers make a living off the back of him so i reckon a few folks like him lol.

That's a better experience than the one I had with Kamtec. That *******er has had my Vanquish body/wing and 2001 undertray for something like 5 years now. Every time I ask for it back he says it's at the top of his list, or I get no reply whatsoever. Remeber folks, it's just a hobby. These sorts of dealers don't deserve your money...

Frankly, I don't care what you all think of Jason or other sellers in this thread. It doesn't belong here. Take it to the eBay gossip forum or Non-RC-related, please.

</rant>

Back ON TOPIC, Jason has 12 more Acto motors for sale right now for other people that might be looking for one to try out. I'm waiting for mine in the mail.

So, it's listed as a "2WD" motor, but has anyone installed it in a 4WD chassis like Hotshot/Boomerang? I guess it would get hot quickly due to the extra load of 4WD.

blah blah....

There is really no longer a specific application for any type of motor. It will run perfectly fine as long as it's geared correctly (to stay cool). The only reason it was originally labeled as a 2WD motor, was because it was too ineffecient to last through an entire main in a 4WD with the race packs of the day. Now that your average battery is well over 5000mah, it doesn't matter what motor you use in a given chassis. There is no chance of it dumping in the mains...
