unpainted Z4 M coupe is at 140 grams

painted Z4 M coupe lightweight is at 110 grams

painted Z4 M coupe with muffler, light unit and 7 sets of bulbs is at 200grams

painted posche 2007 gt3 is at 150 grams

painted bmw 2009 m3 gt2 is at 140 grams

painted nissan GTR is at 140 grams

I guess lightweight hop up body shells are just 40 grams lighter

40 grams doesn't seem like much, but in competition, that is all the difference you might need to make your car win (even though many top spec touring classes use more streamlined, ugly beep shells ;))

And keep in mind that it also lowers the centre of gravity - although I think that would not be the main reason to switch to a lighter body...

In every class I've been running I've always had to add weight to get to the minimum required and to balance the chassis.

I do know of a few guys who I'm sure can notice a 40g difference, but they're all in one of the ultra fast mod classes, and are way out of my league.

As far as the shells, have to agree that most of the TC bodies are all the same and, although a lot more stable at speed, do lack any character. Personally I like the look of the VTA and WGT cars where the bodies can't keep up with something like the popular Mazda6 shell but actually look like something.
