This was given to me but I dont know what it is, please check link for detailed pics.

Please note that it is adjustable, the marks (the bit that looks like a rule) on the can go in this order: 3 small, 1 big, 4 small, 1 big, 2 small.

Also, do I need any special tools to strip and clean it, as i want to put it in my original Rough Rider if I can.

Really hope you guys can help.

Cheers

James

2 tall lines suggest its the tGold VZ; the pre golds only had 1 tall line in the middle of the scale

May or may not be a "Tamiya" motor; they just slapped the sticker on and boxed it up nice

VZs were sold OEM by Mabuchi, LHSes often bought them in by the styrotray and sold them loose unlabelled.

You will need special tools to give it a service tho from memory a brush speader & a spring removal tool both can be bought from the bay but some other TC'ers might have a way round the tools.

Could be either an RX-540SD Technipower or the RX-540VZ Technigold. they both looked the same without the label. Part of the problem is that the Technigold came in a variety of shades of gold. Only way to know for sure would be to dyno the motor and compare it against the numbers of a Technigold. The Technigold will spin about 1000 rpm slower and pull 100+ g/cm more torque. I guess if you really wanted to know for sure would be to destroy the motor and check how many winds are wrapped around the comm. The Technipower is a 23-turn motor; the Technigold is a 21-turn motor.

no they don't fit inside the SRB unless you're willing to carve away the metal gearbox housing bits that get in the way

then the rear cover won't go on properly too; you'll need to be able to screw motor in

This motor is definitely a Technigold and the reason I say for definite is because of the brush profile.

The Technipower brush end that fits in the endbell has a rounded profile whereas that of the Technigold has a shape that almost looks as if it will be an octagon. I'm looking at my Bigwig, with Technigold, and Supershot with Technipower and I didn't realise the subtle difference until now, but it's there.

I know this reply is a bit late but it's a Technigold for sure. :)
