Sorry for yet another "which wheels?" thread.

I'm looking to use an escort cosworth shell (like the repsol or pilot) but having it look like a road car. Ideally I would use standard looking escort cosworth wheels but as this model was never made as a road car I won't be able to get exact replicas so I'll need to get some decent looking wheels for it.

I don't fancy the escort wrc multi-spokes or focus wrc comps but I'd consider any other decent looking touring car or rally car wheels, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Kevin

cheers for those links, the original ones will make it look like a Monte Carlo which is cool and there's an Escos in the local RSOC that has those Lancia style wheels on it but the middle link is absolutely perfect.

Cheers, i owe you one, i really didn't think there had been Escort Cosworth wheels made, i'm glad i asked now!

I made a road replica Cosworth many years ago with those replica wheels. They were made by HPI and were sold in white, black, chrome and silver. Might be worth seeing if they're still for sale and save yourself the hassle of painting them.

I`m presuming you won the 2 sets of wheels in one of the above links? the HPi set in the left of the picture are "The ones" you need for a road version Cosworth Escort B)

Just give them a dusting of silver alloy paint and you will end up looking like attached pic.If you didn`t get them,i have one set left NIP.

yeah i won those wheels earlier today, i lost my nerve and just went for them considering the price. Didn't know anything about who made them so didn't know where to look for them and decided just to go for it.

i really like those BBS style ones as well, i didn't realise there was so much variety with r/c wheels

twisty, that looks great, pretty much what i'm going for! where did you get the number plate from?

The rear number plate is just a decal from one of the Tamiya Cosworth sheets, the Michelin Pilot one IIRC,for the front[see new pic] i used the front letters and numbers onto a self cut white background[out of white vynil and plasticard] and then stick it onto the car :D

You could have a look around some of the Cosworth enthusiast sites for some ideas on common alloys that people run on their full size cars.

You're being forced down a 'modified' Cosworth route anyway with the front headlamps, very reminiscent of the Morrette twin lamp conversion that was so common on the Cosworth. Many fitted it to change the looks, but a great many fitted it to improve the fairly poor standard light unit.

What colour are you planning on painting it? I reckon you should go for a standard colour - maybe as close as you can find to Petrol Blue?

it looks really good, that was my plan, use the repsol/pilot/tiger stripe shell and some of the decals, it's a pity they came with morette lights moulded in, i hate them on the real cars!

cheers for the pics and info

i was thinking of going for Mallard Green -

or maybe the Aubergine colour -

it will definately be a standard colour (but not Imperial Blue as the real Sapphire Cossie that i'm buying next year will be getting resprayed)

whereas the WRC kit will be going like this -

sorry to bump an old topic, but does anyone know what the name of the HPI Cosworth style wheels is? i know there's a "5" in it but can't find any info online.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a set in silver if possible?!

thanks
