First Major Bash-up

Recommended Posts

Still new to driving. I drive my car in a new parking lot. Well, I drive in circles mostly, and try to check my lap times. Which can be challenging.

I drive a TT-01, so I like to spin around quick too. I was getting confident, and wanted to see how far the car would actually go before the radio cuts out. LOL. Well it went pretty far, but at one point I was making a slight course correction, and the car stayed in a sharp turn...*BAM* right into the curb! Hopped up in the air a bit, and was dead to respond! I ran up to it, and the light bracket fell out on one side, and front was all scraped and a fair amount of paint came all off the drivers side front!

I was not so happy with this! However, being my first crash, it was fun! Going to take some new paint and some light sanding. A little repairs on the lights, but oh well! It's an NSX Mobil 1 HPi used body I got with the chassis I bought a few months back. So no big deal replacement wise. Been repairing the car and touching it up here and there anyway, so pretty attached to it! :)

Anyway, first major bash-up!

Anyone have other bash up stories to tell?

So far I haven't given any of my RC a hard introduction to curbs, tree trunks, lamp posts or ankles, lucky me. But I have seem stuck throttle on nitro introduction to concrete curbs, not a pretty sight...I am referring to the look of owner after his RC just mated with the curb. :)

When I first got my used tl01 ford focus a few years back I beat the absolute badword out of it. I remember one time a large chunk of the shell fell off, and as usual I just got out the duck tape and taped up every crack! I really need to post a picture of that shell soon!

Another time somehow one of the wheel nuts wasn't tightened up and at full throttle the front left side suspension just exploded throwing bits everywhere. I only lost the pin holding the wheel hex on. My dad still reminds me of that time "You didn't tighten up the tl01 wheel nuts" but I was clearly sabotaged, no way I forgot to tighten up the wheel nuts :)

LOL, sounds fun.

I took my DB01 Durga to work for a blast, its silly quick as i do race it. running 20c lipo and a 5.5t EZRun. I made a makeshift ramp out of a cardboard box by folding one side down but the two side pieces where still sanding up! I gave it a run up a round the back path up to the ramp and to land on the small grass area. I got some speed but not full, took the ramp slightly off and took the rear wheel off!! lower arm suspension mounts and dog bone all flying in the air, lol! took 5mins to fix its all part of the fun.

I think the most lame crash and most expensive was when the front damper banged off a really low and very small tree stump in the park. the car was freewheeling and coming to a stop and it just hit it with a gentle thud and i bent my titanium suspension rod, Doh!

TBH tamiyas a pretty tough i Drift my TT01, Race my TA05 and DB01 and bash my VLB and they very rarely break!

Couple of days ago, car park bashing with my wife and kids. We had a TXT, modded Manta Ray and a Traxxas Slash. My wife was driving the Manta, turned left when she meant to go right, almost full speed into a brick wall. It made a nice solid 'thud'! The result wsn't too bad - bent front bumper, broken steering knuckle and sheared the lower arm mount. All part of the fun...
