I've been doing too much Googling for my own good of late so I thought I'd open this one up to the knowledge base on here.

My TXT-1 project is now coming together nicely (twin 19x2 brushed makes it more fun than the clod especially with separate steering servos and a 4 channel radio!) but the stock body is a bit boring.

Basically I'm after something that makes it look more like an old-school Monster Truck rather than a truggy on steroids!

Anyone know of any manufacturers of 'Out there' bodyshells possibly in 1/8th scale (seen a 1/10th Parma Gravedigger shell on a TXT-1 chassis and it looked a bit diddy)?

Preferably NOT the Gravedigger shell too.

If the chassis of the old school 'Frankenstein' (the midnight pumpkin inspiration) was a bit more modern looking I may have gone hunting for a Ford F100 shell and my yellow paint!

HPI and Proline are probably your best bet for monster truck shells. Both companies do a whole range of 1/8th scale shells for the Savage, and some of the shorter wheelbase ones will fit nicely on a Clod or TXT. The other nice thing about HPI is that they usually tell you what the dimensions of the shell are (including the wheelbase) so you get a good idea of how it's going to look once it's mounted. A real bugbear of mine is seeing shells mounted on a chassis where the wheels dont even slightly match up to the wheel arches - I think it just looks plain daft.

Proline also do an F100 shell as well - so it might be worth checking the wheelbase of that against your TXT to see how it measures up!

Have a look in there and see if there's something you like. I have an HPI El Camino body shell on order for my Mod Clod, and I think it's always nice to for something a little different to the standard F150 / Chevy pickup offerings we usually get.

Shorten the wheelbase of the txt to that of the clodbuster. Just need to cut down the 4 links, bung in 2 jugg centre drive shafts, and a 1/10 shell will look just right

Then add 8 F350 hi lift shocks onto the unused shocks mounts, just for the look of it !!

See if you can't find a hard shell Nikko F350 crewcab. They have some fine detailing and the wheelbase is quite long. I have one that I will measure up and maybe take a picture for you. I don't really have a use for it so if you like what you see I can always mail it to you and give it a home it will find use in.

Hopefully those nice people at Modelsport are sending me something a little bit radical for the TXT-1!

Saw those excellent HPI Savage shells and the muscle car fanatic in me stirred so one Plymouth Hemi Cuda bodyshell is on it's way for the TXT-1!

Muscle car monster truck!
