Like a cut cat.

In a straight line.

Well too much power for the capabilities of the chassis.

Just your pride... :D

Edit: You still got that Dyna Storm? Just picked one up myself to build... ;)

Yes mate, still got it. Still sitting on the shelf unrun. You will thoroughly enjoy that build.

It will be interesting to see if the Avante will be as good a build as a dynastorm. The quality of that kit was amazing.

I'd say it would depend on how you drive it, obstacle avoidance being key especially with something like a Novak installed!

Motors/batteries have come along way and so has material science but i feel the latter has fallen by the wayside somewhat compared to the exponential rpm gains achieved with brushless motors. I think as with anything plastic or whatever, something will give for sure and the new Avante will be no different

Are they keeping the planetary differential? Remember seeing that and thinking how cool it was, i hope they do ;)

From the pictures from previous posts, it looks like they are going to keep it.

I must say the GT tuned motor is pretty dissapointing. It's slow, ugly (green/yellow wires w/ chrome can) and it's not rebuildable (which means not runable). They should have left it out and made the kit cheaper. Oh well.

Common Tamiya, switch to the Super Stock and anodize/paint it gold.

It's still a couple month away, maybe they will see this thread and comply ;) I don't really care about the motor, I just want them to do something about the front shock tower. I can always put in a better motor, but there's no way for me to reinforce the front shock tower properly.

Can’t wait for this

I have an original that I got 6 years ago for £150 of ebay and have been dying to run it

I think I’m going to have to get two though as i will need one for the shelf and one to run XD

Since the Avante is protected with the undertray, I would just get a display shell and probably some key parts.

Forget about the GT Tuned and Technigold. A 2011 version deserve a brushless setup. The Hobbywing blue should be a good match with the Avante. ;)

Yes indeed! Back in the 80s the avante was so futuristic looking.... now it fits right in ;)

Has an exact date for the release in February been announced? I need to start counting the pennies for this, what with Xmas prezzies etc to buy in between.

At least you'll be able to get the proper tires for her without breaking the bank... ;)

How funny is this!

February is the second month of the year, so 1+1 equals 2. (11/02/11)

Now, the release date of the Avante can be put down like this: 11/11/11

In many Europe countries 112 is the emergency number so maybe they picked it because all the oldies under us will have loud heartbeating when it arrives! I can;t wait for the 11th february, my doctor already subcribed me a box of tranquelizers to keep me calm ;)

i don't think this video has been posted here before but here's video of the Avante 2011 at the show. Towards the end you can see the optional slicks available. afterall Avante does look like F-1 car with slicks :-) I'm debating if I should sell my new build shelf queen and get the 2011 as runner. I can only have one not both. Looks like I got 3 months to find an excuse to explain to wife this is the last Tamiya kit this time.. lol here's the video

All those parts sitting out in open displays. That's brave...

The gold on those shocks doesn't look the same at the original does it? A little too much luster in the re-re's?
