M pro they look amazing but you haven't followed suit with regards to your 2011, why did you decide to paint it? Surely the Carbon Fibre looks better than FRP??!! ;)

Loving the Buggyman-esque transparent bodies though and the three together look spot on but you are missing the final piece or are you hoping on a re issue? :)

I painted this one as its going to be my runner ;)

I still have the other Avante to build and that will be left clear.

As for the missing one... I have been looking but there so dam expensive... hopefully there price will come down a little now or there be a Re-release :o

Update time

Driver painted.. I had to get a new receiver as there is not much room behind the driver so a micro receiver it was

I'm continuing my build this weekend :) Have painted the edges of the decks blue and CA glued them, body is cut out and needs to be decaled

I managed to get 2 x A parts and 1 C/E parts before someone bought 31 of them. I think jr-rc must have bought alot of kits to break up, havent seent the tyres advertised?

That's an interesting idea. I'd have never thought of doing that. What kind of paint did you use?

Just got 4 A parts and 2 B parts from jr-rc

No C parts thought :/

What's the rush in spare parts? Surely the LHS will have loads in soon? If not in the UK then for sure in US, Germany and Asia.

Or why not?

Think the rush is down to 2 things:-

Re-sellers keep snapping them up, most are buying to cash in and some are buying lots to stop other re-sellers cornering the market! (I bought some myself for this very reason, as i know a few other members have too!), you can see this as some are buying 10 at a time, i dont think a collector/restorer need 10 do they lol.

Spares will likely be more expensive than parts from split kits?, surely a Z part wont be going for $4.75USD in hobby shops, would imagine its more likely to be $7.50, bear in mind UK Hobby shop prices are roughly TWICE HK/US prices you can likely expect Z parts in Uk to cost £7.

Tamiya USA have spares listed as not in stock yet but parts numbers are listed up for most parts (except Z parts and we know who has most of those dont we).

A parts and B parts....Don't Panic Don't Panic! There will be plenty in coming weeks, months...

100 A parts and 50 B parts jr-rc began selling today at the usual great price......Thank god for jr-rc!

I bought the A parts as I always broke the front shock mounts so thougth may aswell get in now so I'm not waiting when they break :)

VagabondstarJXF - I used Faskcolor blue to paint the edges then sealed with CA glue, I go the idea from some pics posted on rctech.net

jr-rc is dirt cheap so I don't mind getting them from there as they will be double that price in the UK, and having the parts on hand is nice also

I know no local model shop around where I live are going to carry Avante parts so having them on hand is good as when they brick I won’t have to wait

Rosey Here is where I am with the one for the shelf all nice and clear

I just have to say once again what a good looking car the Avante is

Tamiya USA has spare parts numbers up on their site, awaiting stock, cant see them putting them up on there without them being available, plus Tamiya would be STUPID not to issue spares for such a fragile car.

Thanks for letting me know. Your chassis plates look really cool.

So... Tamiya polycarbonate paint would be ok if I were to do the same? Would it be ok use a Tamiya acrylic paint or would that be bad? And wouldn't it be better to seal the edges with CA glue first or does it specifically need to be painted first before sealing?;)

the faskolor is a polycarbonate paint so I dont see why tamiya paints wouldnt work just as well ;) Also cant see any reason acrylic paint wouldnt work (not a paint expert though). I dont know how much difference it would make either way if you painted first or CA first. The guy who told me about it said he painted the edges then CA glued

Okie dokie. I think I'll do a test on my spare Scorcher chassis before I touch my Avante plates. Did you mask off the plates before painting or are you fortunate enough to have a steady brush hand?

I've built one chassis, my first ever Avante! Beautiful looking thing.....even if it is a bit short of front suspension travel.....dunno what the designers were thinking there.....

First build that I've made really silly mistakes on too. First were the cam loc thingys.....trimming off the bits of plastic flash and decided to trim off all of the little bumps that lock the cam locs in! :)

Next one was, when I was assembling the front steering, I used what I thought was the right spacer for between the steel hub carrier and the front C parts.....turns out that the little plastic shock inserts aren't as squash resistant as the proper alloy spacers that go there!!

Lucky I had some spare kits lying around!

if your running your avante and jumping it, get lots and lots of front end parts, and at least 1 spare rear gearbox complete. 1 extra set of suspension arms also.

if your going to the track and racing with other cars where they are constantly smashing into the car from the side, get at least 15 NIB kits you will need them to make it a full race season.

(and you will go through a ton of rear gear box covers and rear gearbox bottom covers from constantly opening and closing the lids for maintenance and gear ratio and engine changes.

and do not use titanium screws on the maintenance areas of the car, god help you when your 5 minutes from a heat and one of the titanium screw heads snap off while making final adjustments.

Dear me, that's why mine goes onto the shelf and stays there. There is high maintenance....and then there is Avante maintenance. :)

has always been in my experience. they didn't sell individual maintenance parts for the Sand scorcher or Buggy champ. they did sell body sets and a hop up differential but you can't buy the individual parts.

from what i read guys got their hands on 10-15 bulk orders of complete avante kits and tore them up for parts.

this is nothing new in my experience. this is what made owning a tamiya in the united states and trying to race it professionally such a joke, you needed 5 kits to keep your one car running.

of course i don't know how the tamiya europe distributor handles things, but direct individual parts from tamiya japan directly I've never seen it.

You can definitely buy spare parts directly from Tamiya in Japan, however they will only sell these within Japan. When I was in Japan I did so with a few different kits in the past including the re-release Hornet, Top Force and Hotshot.

The Australian distributor is a joke though, they don't bring in some parts at all (even if it is an official spare with an OP or SP number) and it takes ages for them to get stock and then they still have to get it out to the hobby shops.
