do u thing there will be a nice list of hop-ups??? i have one and i am think to restor it with a brushless moter

Only hopup you need in a Blitzer based chassis to run brushless is a steel pinion, which you would replace if using brushed motors anyway. These pinions are 0.8mod size. Big strong teeth.

AFAIK there is no one making 0.8mod steel pinions. 32dp is so close to 0.8mod it's hard to measure the difference and are a suitable replacement for the soft butter aluminium pinions Tamiya gives you in the kit. I use Traxxas E-Maxx 32dp steel pinions to replace 0.8mod.

A note of caution when buying steel 32dp pinions. There are two bore sizes, 5mm and 3.2mm. Most 540 sized motors have a 3.2mm motor shaft, so becareful to buy the right pinion.

I will be using a Castle 4600kv Sidewinder on 2s 4000mAh 25C Li-Po in my re-re Blitzer. (I have a MambaMax 4600Kv in my vintage Blitzer chassis'd Bear Hawk).

There are some upgrades out there for other models that are bolt on.

The DF02 Assembly Universal Shaft set (same as used on DF03), are a direct fit.

The DT02 Turnbuckle upper and steering link set is a direct fit for adjustable suspension.

DF03 rear dampers are the right length (or any 90mm-100mm alloy damper on the market).

TA01/02/03 alloy servo stays fit.

There's heaps of room around the motor to fit on almost any motor heatsink.

High Torque servo saver is a direct fit.

Bearings of course are universal sizes and there'll be sets sold specifically for the Bitzer.

I have these mods on my vintage Blitzer as well.

Maybe there will be other alloy 'bling' bits made. I'd think it's unlikely however.

What kind of alloy bits are you looking for?

I can't think of anything else you'd want to upgrade for tunability or strength, maybe except for the lower front bulkhead which is a little fragile where it mounts to the tub. It will break here with a nasty front impact. The secondhand chassis I bought was cracked here and had a homemade metal plate made (badly made) to fix it.

I am just restoring two original Blitzers are the pinons just 13T ones or can others be fitted?

13T or 15T will fit. There should be 2 sets of holes in the motor mount for 2 pinion sizes.

Does this chassis share any/many parts with the Hilux Monster Racer? Must admit, I've had my head turned by this re-re, especially if I can easily convert it to a 58086....

The Hilux MR/KingCab were "first gen" racing trucks and were actually the first dedicated racing trucks period. Previous to them most successful racing trucks were buggy conversions. Tamiya didn't have the market to themselves for long before first Losi (JRX-T) then Kyosho (Ultima Outlaw), Schumacher (Shotgun) and Traxxas (Eagle/Blue Eagle) jumped into the pond. Associated was last to the party but when they arrived, their RC10T was much lower and wider than the first gen trucks. The other manufactures followed suit and I think this was the "look" Tamiya was going for when they introduced the Blitzer.

I could actually see them banging a Scorcher shell on a Wild Dagger or Mighty Bull chassis
and calling it a Monster Beetle Re-re though. Might cause some howling amongst the TC natives, but it could be done....

IF there ever was an MB re-re, I would pray to all the gods it wasn't a faithful re-re of the original, just so that gods damned awful gearbox was left where it belongs: In the bin!

not even shocks. Very different concepts as truggys i'm afraid.

Cheers

LOL, so quite a "project" to convert then, ie just buy a Monster Racer.

Are the bodyshells also different? They look very similar at first glance?

You'd get nothing more than the re-re Frog transmission IMO.

I think it depends on how the re-re was packaged. If it was done like the Scorcher, complete with blister packaging, I'd agree, however remember the Super and King Blackfoot "re-re's". Both of those used much a much improved version of it, although I guess it depends on whether you see those cars as true re-re's or just a re-boot.

As much as the MB has a special place in my RC heart because it was the first car I had, if it had a Frog gearbox in it, I wouldn't touch it.
