is there a release date for this yet?

Tamiya Japan have January 15th 2011 listed as the release date for the Stadium Blitzer.

I thought it was called Std Blitzer 2010 so I was hoping it would come out this month along with M06pro and XB SS2010. That would have made a truly exciting year as it ends. Should be called SB2011 then...

Happy holidays

So is it going to be based on a DT02 or not? Anyone know what the dimentions of the car will be as may get a new body + wheels for my HB 2010.

If it's the same as the original Blitzer it's the same wheelbase as a DT02. The DT02 however has a different ratio gearbox which isn't suited so well to the larger wheels.

Just received notification from Tower Hobbies that the Stadium Blitzer 2010 that I ordered has been shipped. :)

I didn't think it would be shipping already, so... I am... confused.

Will keep you updated once I receive it. And I promise to take pictures if indeed it is it.

As soon as somebody gets theirs could they check to see what's needed to convert this into a Blitzer Beetle, please? :D

I'm kinda hoping that the body mounts will just be included on one of the parts trees. :(

I just converted mine into a Blitzer Beetle. All you need is the $9 body mounts from the Beetle and the shell is a direct fit. They are not on the parts sprue for the trucks though, you will have to buy them separately.

Part # 9115049 [N parts]

Works the same for a Stadium Thunder too.

BTW - The Blitzers are in stock at Tower Hobbies now - I just got an email notification yesterday: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXASTE&P=7

Exactly as taliesin says - it is a very easy conversion just the body mounts needed.

Though don't forget you need the Blitzer body for a direct fit. The Scorcher body's front mount hole is slightly moved so a conversion using a Scorcher shell would require work.

Conversion from a Bear Hawk is slightly more complex as there are differences in steerings arm and front wheel axles and gearings in the gear box.

The whole gearbox is different. Bear Hawk gears won't fit in the Blitzer gearbox and vice-versa. The Bear Hawk gearing is suitable for the smaller buggy sized wheels. I found this out the hard way.

Why not just wait for the Blitzer Beetle re-re?

Yea but when you got parts in boxes that need building etc and you want it quicker than the re re at a fraction of the price you have to go for it ?

I've already got a Blitzer Beetle shell waiting in the wings. I was going to use it as an extra body for my Monster Beetle but, seeing as I want the Blitzer Beetle aswell, I figured this would be the easiest, cheapest and quickest way for me to get one. Not to mention that I haven't seen any news about a Blitzer Beetle re-re yet.

Just curious... What parts tree would I need to buy to fit a Bear Hawk shell onto this chassis?

I can't speak for Vagabond personally but I would hazard a guess (judging from his post) that he wants to know about putting a Beetle body on the new Stadium Blitzer rere, rather than wait for a car that might or might not be released sometime in the next few years.

Speculation about rereleases has got way out of hand on this forum to the point where it's almost stifling every other thread - you can barely mention any car without someone speculating about why it definitely will/won't ever be rereleased.

Speculation is fine but not when it starts to dictate your collection.

If anyone wants a Blitzer Beetle then go ahead and buy the Stadium and stick a beetle body on it.

Actually a Stadium Thunder might be a better bet. They're sill available NIB online and they come with a Sport Tuned instead of a silver can.

D'oh

Vagabond, you must've posted that while I was writing my musings.

Eh? Where and when has that happened?

backtomyroots has info from a source and has stated that the BB is coming back, and I believe him....but even if he didn't I'd still say it was a no brainer taking into consideration the well trodden 2-per-chassis re-re pattern.

It was a legitimate question to ask though because for many of us cost can be a factor when considering buying a "shared chassis" car and then converting it to something else, as opposed to holding back, waiting for the car that you actually want to arrive and save yourself some cash. No matter how straightforward it is to convert a Stadium Blitzer to a Blitzer Beetle you can be sure that it will cost you more to do so than the actual price of a re-re Blitzer.

In these times of "any re-release is now possible" I would say that speculating should play a major part in dictating your collection, otherwise you may throw away a lot of money by not doing so.

One converted Blitzer Beetle in hand beats two 2 two speculative re-re Beetles in the bush.

&/or

Instant gratification

or

I got all this STUFF like a spare Stadium Blitzer and a Beetle shell with some 1/2 decent decals laying around and all I really need is the N-Parts and 5 minutes to make a Blitzer Beetle - I'm ON IT brother!

Just a few reasons that ran through my mind moments before converting mine over to a glorious new Blitzer Beetle. :)

lol

Actually, I hadn't considered the Stadium Thunder. What's the general price on this kit at the moment?

You can pick them up for $79.95 NIB. Hard to beat that price really.

$79.95? wow. Where from?

There's a guy here in the US - Florida I think - who has them listed on ebay. I've bought several items from his shop and he's a great seller, always well packed, fast and dirt cheap. I'll PM you a link.
