Sideways-King 1 Posted November 17, 2010 Have just been get a couple from tesco's on the weekly shop. There is a good base of collecters and some good sites on the net but most of my lads are well played with now I do the same! On the Tesco run I always raided the Matchbox and Hotwheels box as I figured for £1 it won't break the balance. After years of doing this and quite a stock my Son finally found the office draw full of them and his eyes just lit up and I couldn't just say NO and shut the draw!! It's all good fun. moxyuk 0 Posted November 17, 2010 Glad i am not the only one who does LOL For a £1 you can not go wrong but if you start looking on ebay some go for big money
Henk4Focus 0 Posted December 8, 2010 I used to buy around 20 every time I see them in a shop. That was when they were going for under ZAR20. Most shops now sell them for ZAR30. A little steep for my liking as I only get 3 now for ZAR100 instead of 5 or 6 in the good old days. You can see some of my collection here http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...8&sid=22744 I lost about a 1200 of them during my relocation in 2006. Someone on the furniture removal truck decided he needed my collection more than I do. I was really very annoyed as that crate contained some very important cars. The complete Real Riders set of 1985/86, 20 odd colour changers and some of the Smash'em cars of the late 80's were in that container. So yes I did loose quite a bit when that was taken. Still, I now have a 1000 odd in blister packs again, just not buying many at the present time.
Carlito 6 Posted May 30, 2011 So it isnt just me then! I work nights and being on the road can be a little boring, so I stop by Asda or Tesco and allways have a browse of the toy section. Started with one or two hot wheels, my dream cars, then I heard about the "treasure hunt" series, then started after certain vehicles. I had 23 of the first release of the black Delorean. I missed the silver one and managed to grab a few gold. THEY HAVE TAKEN OVER All started when I collected models of tow trucks as thats what I do for my job, have a fair few matchbox and corgi's, but you cant beat hot wheels. Will try and buy 2 the same, keep one in a packet, and open the other to display, anything querky gets bought and have had several strange looks off staff at local stores. Will even buy any with the long cards as apparantly there for a different market. I see them as an investment, hopefully still sealed will go along way in the future, if I needed money, theyd be up for sale in a heart beat, although it would break my heart! Any way, waffled on enough now so will shut up!
Wez-li 1790 Posted May 30, 2011 I had 23 of the first release of the black Delorean. I missed the silver one and managed to grab a few gold. Is this the one? I literally picked it up the other day, supposed to be for my little boy but I've been buying him loads recently so I might keep this one myself lol
Carlito 6 Posted May 30, 2011 Yes, No, well sort of! Thats the BTTF Delorean, have about 5 of them! The first release was the same colour silver, same wheels, but with out the gubbins on the back deck, They then did the gold version, some say they have 2 shades but im not sure how true that is, but they did have two different shades on the interior, and then they did a black one which appeared to be VERY common. Theyve just released a new silver version in the "faster than ever" range with a black tampo trim down the side and "faster than ever" wheels on it(basic gold 5 spoke) and I have about 4 of them. I dont know what it is about the DeLorean, I have to buy as many as I can see, although Ive been giving the black ones out to any one who wants them! Ebay links removed - Please read the forum rules! http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10738 Will try and post some pics up of my hot wheels at some point, means getting up in the loft! Will16 45 Posted July 17, 2011 I went to Toy R Us today, had to go to WS Supplies (army surplus) anyway, and came out with a big smile on my face . I got a Escort RS2000, Delorean and my favourite the Baja Bug! Also I don't know it anyone has noticed but Matchbox/Hotwheels car are around the right scale for 1/10 mini rc cars. I know they should be 1/100 but a Matchbox RS200 does look the right scale to a Kyosho RS200.
