I've just built the Lancia Delta on the DF-03ra chassis and it goes like stink (with a Super Stock motor on board) on a variety of surfaces. The build is pretty enjoyable too.

Come this weekend I'll hopefully be able to tell you what the TB-01 is like because I've just won a NiB Subaru Impreza German champ on the TB-01 chassis.

They'll both have the same Futaba radio gear, and Super Stock motors so it should be a good comparison.

The TB01 is a tank. It also has foam seals to keep the dirt out of the tub. If you're going to be really giving it some abuse then the TB01 is pretty good, but I think the DF03RA will probably handle better, go faster and have better ground clearance - it just might not take the same amount of punishment...

I have been "punishing" both of my DF-03 RA´s for more than a year now, and only had minor problems with them, like steering-block screws falling out, and the idler gear on the input shaft disintegrating.. I use the slipper clutch upgrade on both of mine, and i have seen someone linking to a place to get a steel idler gear rahter than the Tamiya-supplied aluminum-one..

Anyway, a total of a few screws, a few ballbearings, and 3 new slipper sets is the bits i have used on mine sofar, and both of them are running eZrun 4300 kv brushless systems, and yes, they ARE pretty fast, lol... They have been run on tarmac, gravel, ice and snow as the seasons have changed, and done all types of weather equally good..

I have made custom-inner covers for both of them, but a few friends of mine have fitted the Dark Impact bodyshell underneath their rallyshell to protect the electronics from the elements..

I have only had 1 TB-01, and i will never get another one.. Yes, they may be very sturdy, but in my opinion, they are way too sluggish and heavy to be useful for the type of driving, i like doing. Mine was a stock one, so i cannot say how they run with hop-ups. :D

So put in short: Get the DF-03 RA for Rallying. ;)

Cheers..

i have a TB01, it handles like a turd compared to my TA02, so i stripped all the fast bits out of it and put the TA02 back into useage... TB01 will make a nice bodyshell mount for display purposes..
