I had an Ansmann ACX1 charger on order, but cancelled it when a supplier sent me 5000mah stick packs over the 3800 I'd ordered ( the acx1 being limited to 3800mah)

So looking round the options seem to be

Ansmann vbase deluxe

IMAX B6 (£80 retailers, £40 max on eBay)

Turnigy accucel6 - similar to IMAX but with cooling fan.

All I need initially is a fast mains charger to cope with stick packs from 1800 to 5000mah.

I've read some concerns over accuracy of the IMAX, should I stay clear ?

I'm probably not going to bother with lipos as most of our use will be garden or playing fields.

I have had an imax b6 and now have a b8, bought both from ebay and really cheaply and can say ive never had any issues with them, although you will need to make sure you get a psu, these look ok for what they cost if your sticking with nimh/nicad's, ac and dc input so you can use at home or in the car clicky upto 5amp charge rate so would suite your new packs, i have one of there psu's and find it a great unit, or go for a b6 or b8 off ebay and get one of these, much better than the tiny little 5amp psu that comes with the b6/b8 sometimes. try searching for Titan B6 on ebay, can be had for less than £20 and would do everything you need for some time, the price of b8's has gone up almost double from when i last bought mine.

Thanks for the titan suggestion - Hong Kong supply only by the looks of it, with elivery typically 2 weeks and the potential for import duty and taxes. Will avoid that one i think.

I'd rather not have a multitude of boxes, and whilst the modelsport power supply is no doubt great quality i'm in danger of my garage looking like a science lab !

I can get the Turnigy Accucel6 with a 'laptop' style power pack supplied within the UK, but i might just go the safe route of the Ansmann xbase from GoldStarStockists since its on offer at £42

Ive never been charged import tax or customs charges from hong kong or china, america for sure, and i dont find waiting a week or so bad compaired to the savings being made, you can spend that extra cash on something for your car

Thanks for the recommendations.

Looked at the imax B6 from a uk supplier and a power adaptor from HK - all told about £35 assuming no taxes. Found a Imax B6 AC with direct mains connection too, but HK supply only.

In the end bottled it and went with the safe UK supply option of the Ansmann xbase @ £42 - small single unit, mains connection and easy enough for me and the youngster to use (for NiMH), and i should have it within a week even allowing for the snow.

I think there's something in that like the will start a war if we cripple there economy by charging import fee's,

xBase deluxe arrived yesterday, tried it out this morning with old nicad 1400 and a new NiMH 5000 stick pack. Amazed how small it is in the flesh and extremely easy to use, no even looked at the manual lol!

Highly recommended
