Hi guys,

I've recently just started to look into real r/c cars and love the look of these old school buggies and chances are I will have one. I'd really like to build my own suspension and so far I've only seen the RC Channel suspension and steering kits.

What I'd like to see if some of your own Hot Shot's weather stock and untouched or heavily modded. Who else makes suspension kits for these units besides RC Channel?

Thanks a bunch guys.

I've got no idea as to what's done to this one but I can say that this thing is absolutely gorgeous, check it out!!

Hey Striker01, welcome to the forum!

That Hotshot in the video is incredible and really shows what talented people can do. Simply beautiful. I'd love to see the insides of that in more detail.

Here is mine, totally stock except ball bearings, Tamiya Sport Tuned motor, and RC Channel wheels.

It is box-art boring, but I loved building it through-and-through.

I don't know of other manufacturers of suspension parts for the Hotshot off hand. Maybe someone else here does and will reply.

I've seen other things this fellow has modified the bejesus out of and all I can say is the man has mad skills. Sign me up on the "in awe" list.

Hey Striker01!

Here is my Hotshot rere I built just over 3 years ago.

It's a really fun car to build, and they look awesome!

A must have for any collection.

Those are all sweet units guys and I wouldn't refer to it as box-art boring Champ  Nothing wrong with stock.

I'm debating on leaving the suspension stock as I will not be racing the car-EVER. However, these wheels definitely intrigue me.

I think they look off the wall!

Those rims are crazy Striker!

TamiyaDan, your rims are nice, I like the cgold color with the red shell of the Hotshot! Looks nice and modified to me. Is it an original, or a re-re?

30cms, do all the hot-shots come with "Tamiya" cut out in the bumper, or is that a mod you made?

The Hot-Shot is my favorite buggy, on my "to get" list.

Hi Greg

I am not that handy with a knife!! They come with the Tamiya already cut out

Keep em coming. I love the gold wheels on the red hotshots. Are the bodies pre-painted or do I have to get the red spray can out?

it's rattle can time!

only a tiny surface area to paint though

I think there was an all aluminum frame for one of these online out of HK on a popular auction site, some people made for sale. Would make a nice show piece.

After a few days of self debate, I think that i've decided to keep the stock suspension on the car just to maintain it's original looks. Can someone please recommend a plate frame to protect the under neath of the car? I also found a whole stainless steel bolt/screw set for it as well.....hmmm.

Is there a specific tamiya red paint that they recommend be used? I also see that the front shock mount it red, I just hope everything matches, and the spoiler needs paint as well I assume?

Just to break up the sea of red paint, here's my re-re Hotshot, from when it was new about three years ago:

Stock except for ball bearings and a homemade version of the old Parma bump-steer kit (basically just Traxxas outer rod ends, some spacers, and really long screws). It doesn't see as much action as it deserves, but it does get driven.

Nice, I like torquise paint!

Striker01, the manual should say what paint to use. Sorry, I don;t know it off hand.

The supershot had a full length skid plate for the bottom. It was a direct bolt on hop up for the Hotshot. here is my hotshot. I have a lot of hop ups to stick on it just haven't been motivated to do it.

Wow that's a sweet piece you got there man! As for the hop ups, it's too bad there arent many for sale on e-bay. All I find are ball bearings and other various odds and ends for the hotshot. The supershot skid plate would be very nice as well.

A quick random snap taken from my mobile of my original Mk1/Mk2 hybrid...it's basically a Mk2 with Mk1 front gearbox, bumper, underguard & bumper stay and Supershot wheels/tyres. I think the Hotshot suits the pin spikes much better than the blockies.
