Reading though old posts and some recent advertisements on the 'net, there is some mention of limited quantity when it comes to the Sand Scorcher and Buggy Champ.

I've seen Japan only versions (T shirt included) and some with Tamiya Bag included in the UK, but is there actually any limit on the number that will be produced ?? Anyone know ?

If i were Tamiya i'd be churning them out at a rate of knots given the interest from old and new R/C fans.

They are a limited release, yes.

Although according to the Tamiya RC catalogue 2011, all of the true rereleases are "limited editions".

That includes the Hornet, Hotshot etc etc.

Thing is with the stuff like the SRB's, after all the old school fans have bought one, there is limited appeal in the general rc market.

I think a lot of new RC fans want ready to run, brushless, short course trucks.

Some of the rere's do seem to reach "hard to find" numbers - the Dyna Storm and '77 6 Wheeler being a case in point.

Hornets and Grasshoppers are still in abundance though! Here's a cheap (in the UK) Hornet - 80 quid with free post http://www.danielstores.co.uk/p/5251/tamiy...-the-hornet-kit

I might have one of them myself, even though I have a new built one, and a couple of runners. Still, a nice kit to have "in stock" for a rainy day . . . !

When the Buggy Champ was released I was really excited and got a friend of mine who runs a model shop to get loads in, as they will "sell out fast"

Months and months later he was stuck with about half a dozen BC's that he had to get the UK importer to take back.

Still, he gave me one for free, so I was happy.

I don't think i need to rush out this week for one by the sounds of it - both my local models shops have one on display and no doubt another in the storeroom.

That picture of the Brat is complete garbage! The windshield is clear which is from the first release of the Brat, even the mud blaster had a slightly tinted window, where the re-re brat has a very dark windshield and looks out of place on the truck.

Also that picture does not do the Brat justice, it just doesnt look right.

I meant to point that out too, that it had the old hump back battery. Also I just noticed that it has the red pin striping on the decals which is only found on the original... as well as the short bumper. That picture must be of an original, which is interesting...

Funny that the re-re manual has the same pic on the cover as the original, same short bumper, pin striping on the decals and hump back battery.
