Hello all

Just typing this whilst salivating over a Bullhead what just arrived.

Has anyone ever built a clodzilla with one?

The reason I ask is I wanna build this, but dunno how far I need to go for the new chassis, and as it's not here yet......

Also, there's gonna be some spares left after, so if anyone's restoring one of these, drop me a line.

Gotta go sling a spanner now, and will start building after that sinature.jpg

OK, call me stupid but I just don't know icon_smile_wink.gif

What is a Clodzilla? Is this a special aftermarket kit to transform a ClodBuster into a truck with even bigger wheels? I saw it on Roby's page but I don't know what it is... icon_smile_shock.gif

I think if it will work on a Clod it should also work on a Bullhead, the chassis' are the same except for all the fancy colors. icon_smile_cool.gif Or at least I think so. How can I say this without knowing what a Clodzilla is?!?! lol icon_smile_wink.gif

Please help me out since I feel pretty dumb here.... icon_smile.gif

Hi Sjoerd

You're 1/2 right, it's a chassis upgrade, just to give the Clod better articulation etc - plus it looks good zilla.jpg

They also do Juggernaut long wheelbase kits too.

Everything has arrived now, so keep an eye on my showroom......

And I reckon it gets its name from how it "monsters" your bank a/c... icon_smile_shock.gif 'zilla kits don't come cheap, various levels & options, looking $200+ for kit alone?

Usually all that's left of the original Clod donor is the gearboxes, but its usually cheaper to start with a Clod kit/car rather than buying the gearboxes as parts.

Bullhead as unique red chassis parts and yellow shockers.

Call me nuts but I think I like the origional ClodBuster more. I was always looking at it in my RC guidebook but I could never afford it. icon_smile_sad.gif I think it's time to go after one, I saw one recently for €150. He said it had only a few 'invisible' scratches and was else ok, with a new manual he lately bought for it. What do you say, buy it? icon_smile_big.gif I'm going to ask him more and more about it, because he can't make a picture... icon_smile_sad.gif (for instance, I don't know if it has origional colors.)

Is the ClodBuster avaliable new these days? I hear Tamiya the Netherlands (Reyne & Zonen) has it as some sort of 're-release'. Still the same thing though. I saw one NIB in a hobbystore as well (for €370), but that's a bit too much for me now. icon_smile.gif So, is this Clod something or not? I'll try to get more info if you need it.

I never knew Clods weren't that expensive... maybe I should give Reyne and Zonen a call to ask: "how much does the ClodBuster cost?" Maybe it's worth the effort.. icon_smile_big.gif I hear it's going to be discontinued, but I'm a bit confused. Anyone? icon_smile.gif

Last US magazine I had still advertised Clods;

$220 www.stormerhobbies.com

$230 www.brooklynhobbies.com

My Bullhead came NIB from holiday123 on ebay, it was $179 buy it now, but I was the only bidder, and got it for $160,+ $50 shipping he's sold a couple now, and has quite a few tamiya kits for sale, mostly buy it now!!

Regarding Zilla's being fragile, mine is probably ever gonna be a cat-chaser/shelf queen!

The zilla chassis was $169 from tower hobbies.

I have a NIB clod waiting to be built. I decided not to go the zilla route and base it on the standard chassis - i didn't want people looking at it and saying 'whats that?', but still wanted something a bit cooler than the average clod. So I went down the route of buying all the hop ups I could find for it that didn't change the stock chassis too much. Got a bunch of esp parts to improve handling and strength and a bunch of metal parts that basically replace all the pastic chrome bits with metal equivalents (available now from the 'parts shop' logo_member2.gif

What's the deal with TXT-1's anyway, I know of one that went for £250 BIN, and there's 2 or 3 more around the same price on the bay at the mo.

They look real cool, and are huge, but they SEEM to going for a lot less than what I'd have thought.

Personally I think a lot of people are bailing out, to upgrade to Terra Crushers.

Big problem with all the electric trucks is run times etc. Also it quite easy to spend a fortune of ESC, new motors, big batteries etc.

You can do all that too it, spend hundreds, and you still end up with something that the Terra Crusher will wipe the floor with out of the box and give you only 5-10 mins run time if you are lucky, as compared to the TC which will run and run for as long as you have fuel.

Shop around and you can pick a TC for juust over £300.00 inc delivery from the states.

Dead right, I love gas cars, you haven't got to carry a box full of kit round, just a bottle of fuel and a funnel!

My main objection to ever getting a gas car was you had to go and turn it round whenever it got stuck, cos of the lack of reverse, but now so many have reverse gears too, you can just wang 'em about like a loony sinature.jpg
