Hi

I am new to this forum and will need lots of advise, sorry.

I own a fighter buggy rx and the current setup is;clash 21t, teu101bk and bearings.

Is there anything else i can get?

What battery, tyres do you reccomend?

Anything i should know?

I would be very great full if anyone can send some pic's.

Alloy oil dampers is about the only other bolt on part for the DT01. DF03 dampers are the right length for the DT01. Use the kit springs as they are the right weight for the light buggy and live axle rear end (all the rear weight is unsprung in the rear gearbox).

Anything else is getting creative and making it yourself. Mine has custom double wishbone front suspension, custom rear swaybar, repositioned custom alloy steering boss for less bumpsteer, DT02 turnbuckle upper link and steering links, DF03 Tamiya alloy dampers, MambaMax 4600Kv brushless, Super Astute wheels and tyres. It does handle alot better than stock, but it's still a shocker to drive. I haven't taken any photos of it yet really, am still doing a custom 'Rabid Rabbit' (Rookie Rabbit) themed paint job and decals.

Add a steel pinion gear. :)

I've tried a variety of tires & wheels. The only ones I don't like are stock, LOL.

I really want to try these: http://www.fusionhobbies.com/Carson-2WD-Al...k-p/c900027.htm

Proline Dirt Hawgs really cause this model to traction roll and I wouldn't recommend them. I ruined one body & wing by using these tires. I couldn't keep it rubber side down - too much grip on tarmac and too high on ride height.

At the moment I've got a set of old IMEX road slicks on stock wheels and they are surprisingly good on tarmac - beyond lousy on dirt or even dusty concrete. Not sure if they are even still made though, I got them in a box of odds 'n ends.

My favorite DT-01 is the Mad Bull though. The Lunchbox of the buggy kingdom.

Oops!! Forgot to mention I have a Traxxas E-Maxx 17T 32dp steel pinion in there too. I don't run any aluminium Tamiya pinions.

Wow guys!

Thanks soo much, my poor parents have got alot to order!

I want to stay with my clash 21t, but the pinion would be a good idea.

I love those carson wheels, i muight get them soon.

I am thinking of making some alloy stuff in christmas hols.

Ill keep you posted

Dan,

welcome to the forum!

I've tried the Carson wheel/tire combo extensively. They provide good grip on tarmac, concrete, and carpet, but wear pretty fast. I have run both the black ones and the chrome ones. I managed to break the rim edge on all off the black ones into fragments - Somehow the chrome ones held up. Maybe because I ran them in a softer environment :-) The front rims have a good, tight grip on the bearings unlike some of the Tamiya ones, where the bearings rattle around...

I and my son ran the wheels on DT02 / Desert Gators.

You should be able to find the RZ motor for less than $20 - I think I bought mine at RCMart (Dinball) even lower than that.

Just curious, how does that rear swaybar have any effect on a solid rear axle suspension?

Because it's not really solid. There is a pivot in the middle, also called "rolling rear diff", similar to a Hornet or Lunchbox. Where the Lunchbox/Hornet has the angle of the dampers, and those little springs in the pivot blocks to resist the roll of the diff. There is nothing on a DT01 to resist the roll, and the rear dampers are laid almost flat and have no effect on the rolling diff at all.

The swaybar resists the rolling diff, but does not interfer with the action of the dampers, so you still have full suspension travel. Without the swaybar, and the very powerful motor, it was getting some serious torque twist.

The Grasshopper is the only chassis of this type that has a truly solid pivot point for the diff/gearbox... and it's one of the first things you need to upgrade to get a Grasshopper to handle (Hornet rear suspension).

Thanks for explaining. I was wondering if there was some sort of pivot that allowed the rear axle to rotate. That makes sense now.

Nice custom swaybar!

Yes, those wheels are quite strong--Im using the sand viper ones.

As for the Super stock motors I cant seem to find them any cheaper than abour £30, i think the Gt tuned would be good as i can get them for about £25.

I sure they are cheaper off ebay but my dad is refusing to buy anymore so i have to buy with my own money from rc shops!

thanks

Hi

Will DT02 turn buckles fit on the dt01 and also the steering stabalizer kit?

cheers

Simple answer, No. Not without major modification of the front suspension and steering. (Cutting parts up and making new parts from scrap).

Dam! I am in need of a good motor and esc setup for around £35 to £50. Any ideas?? thanks

Mtroniks sport auto 20 esc around £17, ansmann clash motor about tenner and a steel pinion another £10. You're not going to get much cheaper than that. Given you already have the motor use that money on some spare Tyres!

yes, that would be a good set up for me. I think i would go for the 15t mtroniks esc and then later get 15t clash motor though.

Ive got the pinion gear already aswell!

I think that would be good for 30mph!

Good thinking, ive only looked at expensive stuff!

cheers
