I'm getting ready to paint a BB body for "racing buggy runner duty" -and I want to do something different. When I say that I mean classy but different.

Here were my thoughts:

Hugger Orange and Light Orange

Dark Blue and Baby Blue.

Yellow and white.

Orange and White (something like the rr)

Anybody else have some other thoughts? Also I'm thinking of having the nose cone be painted the same as the dark color.

Hi sean.

Ive seen dazmeister's runner in black and silver, im gona go for that look but use gunmetal grey metallic instead of silver.

Quite subtle and the black will shine nicely.

i put my scorcher picture into my scanning programme, and messed around with the colours, came out with stuff like blue/pink, green/yellow, red/orange etc etc.

might put somer pics up later.

I think green, not too light, combined with white looks nice. How about that? icon_smile_big.gif Or maybe white and green.

I love Sand Scorchers, but I don't have one... Please help this poor collector...icon_smile.gifid=size1>

Hmmm...I think I'd better stick with the '2 tone' paint jobs. A 2 color scheme is just the most important parts of the cars, I guess that's why I ever started to like it!

I also noticed the rear windscreen is just like an 'old' VW windscreen. I thought on the real VW 'Käfer' there were two 'types': the later type, with a big one you can look though easily; and the old type: 2 tiny peeking holes, like on the SS body. I didn't know the SS had the old type. If you would built a real 1:1 VW buggy these days and if you would use an origional one with THIS rear window... I think many VW fans might want your head... icon_smile_wink.gificon_smile_dead.gif lol

(I didn't see ANY green/white SS...am I not looking to well and need new glasses; or am I the first one with the idea? icon_smile.gif Might be a nice one for my future SS icon_smile_big.gif )

Sjoerd.........the scorcher came with the big rear window, if you look closely at the pic, you can see the original outline of the rear ss window.

The vw beetle(or kafer)came with 3 types of rear window.

From the firstcar to cars upto 1953, they had the split rear window(like the matt ss you looked at), then from late '53 to late '57, they had the oval window, like the split only without the pillar, and from then on they had the large rear window.

If the ss had the split rear window originally, the side windows would have been slightly smaller, and the front windscreen would have also been shallower.

That era of vw's didnt have the sunroof either.

Also, the vents below the rear window on the old cars were different with the small rear windows, they were taller and had a different shape to the later cars.

sorry to go on, got a bit carried away!

i like that ss, but have to agree that i prefer two colours.

and lots of race sponsor decals!

cheers

Joe

as you can tell, i like my vw's!

Yes, you're absolutely right. I noticed later it it supposed to have a big rear window. I knew it was something like that. It really suprised me seeing that SS with an other type of window icon_smile_shock.gif

And I am calling myself an SS lover... oops... icon_smile_shy.gif

I must agree with you, Joe. I think the two tone paint job is just part of the car. I want my SS like that as well... Blue and white is preffered though (the origional) icon_smile_big.gif

Yes, the matte grey one, looks like its 1/2 VW type 82E and 1/2 Sand Scorcher. During WWII, the Germans used these as scout cars and embasy attache transports. It looks like the split window on this scorcher was some type of conversion kit. Looks quite impressive.

Type 82E........nice cars.

4WD aswell, imagine passing the 'off road' cars in snow with a beetle!

i love army cars, some of them are so ugly they are beautiful.

i did my blitzer shell in matt army grey colour, looked cool, paint was for car bumpers!

its about time tamiya did a 1/10th kubelwagen , or schwimmwagen!

That 'army' SS also has 4 rear tires, would be cool if it was 4WD! icon_smile_cool.gif (probably need a whole different chassis for it then... icon_smile_wink.gif )

As for the kübelwagen, I remembered tamiya has a radio controlled 1/16 scale version of it. You might want to check it out. icon_smile.gif Same scale as the tanks. Don't expect it being really fast, it run on some AAA batteries.. icon_smile_dead.gif Fit a 540 motor in it... icon_smile_evil.gif

Mogsmex,

You CAN NOT link to a picture in your showroom. icon_smile_sad.gif You must put the picture on a FTP server. You probably have an FTP-account, it came with your internet provider membership. Even free providers have webspace most of the time! You have to get yourself a (free icon_smile_big.gif ) program such as WS_FTP LE to upload files to it. You use the same password, provider and account-name as you use to connect with your provider when you go surfin' on the web. icon_smile.gif

It's a bit of a hassle, but you could also use services as www.theforumisdown.com (or something like that). Got no experience with that, I mostly link to images from other websites than the club, and if I want to link to a pic of my car, well, they are on my site as well... icon_smile_wink.gif I hope this helps you out a bit. icon_smile_cool.gif

Cheers,
