I recently won a SS on ebay and upon receiving this, I noticed that tires are in order. What is the threshold on paying for original SS rear and front tires? In other words, how much is too much?

Thanks again.

You will probably pay more if the auction is for a front and rear set together. for a set, I would say 80-100 individually 40-60 for front or rear.

Even though they're not SS tires. Contact Alex (AUCTIONS) and get his replica RR/brat rear tires. I plan on using them on all my cars as rears unless I have rear ss tires to start with. If you need tires wait till summer when prices are down.

The tires that Jim Sourbeck has been selling are for the audi quatro and willy's wheeler. I bought one set but intend to grab another set. They are so cheap I should get them now incase I need them later. Their inside diameter would lend better to using the rough rider rim as opposed to the Sand Scorcher wheel.

Thanks SNOLLAN

I just got me another 2 sets from Jim, $28.50 shipped to UK, and he's fast.

The only thing the tyres dont have is the 'z' shaped bead, they just hug the outside diameter, but they're excellent for my shelfers.

Are RR and SS rims different then?

Actually the Wheeler has a different (unique) size & "Advan" treadpattern.

The ones you show are the "Michelin" which the Quattro and Opel used. I tried fitting them to Willy wheels and no luck, too far off. But they look like a good fit to the white SS wheels.

Downunder we're used to seeing old stock of some yellowtagged brand that fits the SS/Frog/Hornet wheels front & rear. Treadpattern is totally different of course (3-rib & spikes on front, V-ribs & spikes on rear) but at least they fit - better than nothing.

I have heard that the following is the exact correct Tamiya tire for the Rough Rider, still in production. I think they will fit the SS rear, but have the wrong pattern. $20(US) for 4 is not bad. Not sure if the rims will fit.

No idea how much shipping/tax is outside the US.

Does anyone have a link/contact for someone selling *front* RR/Frog tires? I mean anything that will fit the rims, not collectable ones, for use on a runner. Wrong pattern is fine.

Rims look doubtful, centre hole looks too small, and if they're 4wd wheels, there's nothing for the front. Tires look sweet though, gotta be worth a gamble!
