I don`t know - but I would say probably not as your acoms stuff is probably analogue.

I don't know either. I use a new Futaba transmitter for my old Acoms receiver from the 80's. Works OK.

However, unless you really want to use your old electronics in the car, I'd suggest the Flysky 2.4 GHz set instead.

A cheap 2.4GHz should be much better than a cheap 27 MHz AM.

While looking around the links above I stumbled upon the same set up but for only $35!! I cant find shipping details but $35!!

Yes, they're really that cheap.

That shop is out of stock, but you should be able to find one by googling around and checking the bay.

Depending on your location, shipping may match the price of the transmitter, but only because the transmitter is so cheap.

Get a few extra receivers at the same time and save some money.

I also like their servos. I think I paid around $12 for each metal gear servo. No good for racing, but take some beating and are thus a perfect match for bashing or just filling up shelf queens to make them look complete. They make a lot of noise and twitch a bit when in neutral. Never could figure out whether that's the servo or receiver. But it is just making noise, not actually moving.

I've only used them under the Eurgle brand (Worst brand name ever?) but I understand they're the same.

My transmitter: http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail.php?prod=rcps2805001 (Supposedly better than the new one actually)

The new one that matches your link: http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail.php?prod=rcps2805004

Receiver: http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail.php?prod=rcps2806002

Had no problems (or vat :( with delivery from R2 Hobbies. I bought a 9 channel receiver from them too, for 3-speed use. The battery holder was broken but they shipped a new one quickly.

My interest in these is I run lots of cars using the same transmitter so extra receivers have to be cheap too, I placed a wanted ad about a week ago having destroyed 5 Acoms 2.4 receivers - they are £39 each!

hummm i like that one n the price seem daftly low! :( so i take it my 27mhz crystals will be no use with these 2.4ghz systems?

cheers again...

2.4GHz doesn't need crystals. The binding process makes the transmitter and receiver cooperate and ensures no interference with others.

This is one of the great advantages of 2.4 GHz.

bit like a brandnew Tata Nano would cost less than a set of brake pads/discs/studs for your Porsche Cayenne

and both work just as well to drive to the shops :)

I have one of those. It's not nearly as fancy as it looks. The plastic is cheap and the display is pretty much impossible to read in sunlight. But on the plus side, you will lose sight of your car before it runs out of range and the batteries last forever. It does have 10 model memory, and as others have pointed out, the receivers are about $7 each. They're also incredibly tiny and weigh next to nothing. All in all, a very good deal. I paid $75 shipped for mine and I feel I got my money's worth.

If you don't need the 10 model memory, this is the even cheaper version. I've got one of those too, and it performs about the same. Although it doesn't have model memory (or any features besides trim and endpoints) you can bind an unlimited number of RXs to it. Definitely the best $20 you can spend on a TX/RX.

The seller wants me to send it back to hong kong before he'll send me another *tsk - I did order another 5 from somebody else, so I'll let you know how I get on :D

How high a voltage did you feed it? Are you running 3S lipo or something?

Everybody knows that it is smoke that makes electroncs work. Because whenever you let the smoke out, it stops working. :D
