Anyone who owns or owned a blitzer beetle or stadium blitzer how good are they? Can the gearboxes handle brushless power?

Blitzer chassis is fine with brushless provided you don't go extreme Kv and you also toss the aluminium pinion in the trash and fit a 32dp steel pinion with bearings throughout the chassis. I have a 4600Kv brushless in mine.

4000kv in mine.. (8.5T EZRun system).

Have also stuffed some alloy DF03 shocks in there too. Goes beautifully.

Blitzers make superb, durable bashers too. If you like Beetles, these are must haves!

Agree with SteelRat and TA-Mark... bearings and a steel pinion, I have a Robinson Racing 13 tooth 32dp in mine, was running a 3300KV setup but have switched to a Reedy Flash Quad 13x2 and 2S Lipo.

Sorry, love these pics so had to share :)

The gearbox has always seemed a bit noisy to me - it has a high pitched whine - but it has gone forever and when opened up and regreased there wasn't even a hint of wear, so I think it is very sturdy.

Check all the bearings first. A pitted or damaged bearing will whine.

Also check and maybe even chamfer the ends of the teeth on the diff gear. A whine like that is sometimes mould flashing on an overlapped gear.

The 0.8mod teeth are louder than 0.6mod, and quieter again is the 0.5mod and 48dp.

I might try knocking the ends off the diff gear. I've got a few older models that do this and they've all got those massive chunky gear sets. I just gave up on my re-re fire dragon. There was a thread about how the re-re FD gears made noise and I've just concluded that they were molded in such a way that they make noise. The re-re is still going strong too - noise and all.

Guys can you tell me where you got you Robinson Racing 13 tooth 32dp pinion from? i have seen there website but its in the USA is there a UK supplier? also which pinon is the best they list:-

32 Pitch Hardened Alloy Pinions - 1713 Hardened 32 Pitch Absolute Pinion 13 Teeth $4.95

32 Pitch Alloy Pinions - 0130 Steel Alloy 32 Pitch Pinion 13 Teeth $3.50

Metric .6 Module Steel Alloy Pinions - 1113 Metric Steel Alloy 48 Pitch Pinion 13 Teeth $3.50

which one is the most suitable?

cheers....

This is the right one. The RRP0??0 range where ?? is the tooth count. Robinson Racing is a US company.

Another option is a Traxxas E-Maxx 13t 32dp steel pinion. Traxxas Part Number 3943.

RW Racing is UK based and also make a 32p steel pinion. Part Number RW3200-13 (Be careful not to get a RW3200E-13, these are for a 5mm motor shaft).

Are the blitzers better suited for 540 sized motors or can they handle a smalller higher revving 380? Whats the max kv they can hanble? I know they are very light but is a 5000kv 540 overkill?

but is a 5000kv 540 overkill?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet that TA-Mark will say ... wait for it ... NO! :(

Sorry Mark, the devil made me do it, honest. :D

I'd do it just to see :(

Keep a close check on motor, ESC and battery temperatures during the first few runs to ensure the system is happy in there. You don't have any gearing options below 13T pinion, so if it's running too hot, use a lower Kv motor.
