I am currently doing a restore on my Super Champ. I have dissasembled it, cleaned it and am in the process of reassembling with a few new parts.

I wonder if the super champ is really any better than a Rough Rider? while the rear suspension is more compliant than the Rough Rider. It is really hokey how you have to use the zip ties to limit rebound travel. I also think it' hokey how t=you have to use the zip ties again to mount the rear cage to the roll bar. It seem that some of the design was well thought out but other parts were an after thought. In addition with all the extra metal, this car weighes more than the Rough Rider.

Yup... leave them out and we get "monoshock without antiroll bar" syndrome. icon_smile_sad.gif

Gives it a bit of compliance though... Rear end hit?

Still wondering how the back bumper & arms can get broken...

Agree!

And that's before all the balloons and wrapping to make your radio gear waterproof.

HI!

Go and see my showroom the SUPER CHAMP EDITION version there you can see I have put an original AVANTE damper in it. The damper is the short one but the shaft is from the long one. I really have not try it yet but it works better than the original hard damper one on the table.

This is the way i think of it, for the shock zip ties, you are able to adjust is to perfectness by clicking the zip ties. You can make it a low rider by clicking the zip ties, just soo much simple, easy adjustment. About the roll cage, your post just inspired a thought in my mind, what if you put one of the SS/RR rear cage connectors on, slightly modified if you have to.[:D]

Nah, not much point. You'll have to muck about with pins & screws, sometimes the 2 bits don't even match up exactly and you don't need the RR/SS shockmounts anyway.

Plus all that gear would be way heavier than 2 cableties.

I though about using the RR cage mounts also. You would have to grind down the rear portion of the cage a bit to make if fit correctly. When your done, it wouldn't be stock. Eventhough I think its a poor design, when doing restore you want to build it like the instructions say to do.
