What type, capacity, and discharge rate battery pack are you using? Ni-Cd or cheap Ni-MH just can't supply enough amperage to start a brushless motor effectively.

What type of battery plug are you using. A Tamiya plug is rated at 7.5Amps, most brushless systems can draw over 60Amps.

What settings do you have in the ESC for start power, motor timing and punch? Try turning them down so the system is not trying to draw so much current.

check the wiring from the ESC to the motor.

If any of the wires are loose then you will get awful stuttering but once moving it will be fine, so if you have used bullet connectors this may be the cause.

i had issues on by BL setup and this was the cause, and also the connections heated up quite a lot.

Also check the connections from the ESC to the receiver. Recently tore apart my RC8 after it started stuttering thinking it was a drive line problem. After spending all the time to tear it down and finding nothing went to the simplest solution, ended up being the connector at the receiver.
