Hello, I'm adding this post for future (and possibly current) owners of the Pershing tank.

From the factory my speaker was turned up waayy too loud. Shortly after getting everthing together (and after I figured out that the speaker was in backwards) I learned how to turn the speaker down, but then it was too quiet. For a couple of days I ran with it nice and quiet but longed for the fake roar of the motor. This time when I turned up the volume the tank seemed to go bananas. Even with the main on/off switch set to off the tank would continously fire the cannon and move around.

It took me some time while re-reading through the MF-03 guide book to find a small reference photo of a tiny switch (surrounded by Japanese writing??) beside the volume adjuster. This switch sets the MF-03 to "self test mode". I must have accidentally moved the switch when I was adjusting the volume or when I was squishing around the many miles of wiring in the lower hull. In any event the tank is behaving now, except that the turret doesn't turn very well. But I can live with that.

I hope this helps someone.

there is a clutch in the turrets turning mecanism it needs gluing up to stop it slipping then the turret will turn a lot better

I tried adding glue to the slipper clutch and that really seemed to help.

I have other minor problems that I'm dealing with. After a couple of hours driving the tank around the house chasing the kids a few screws have come loose and the lights have stopped working.

Lots of fun.

the lights stopped working on mine too

to stop the screws comming loose, if they are into metal then thread loc them, the ones into the plastic they should be OK, but do not use any thead loc on them because you may melt the plastic

I used thread lock everywhere I was told to but I should have used it everywhere.

BRELs have you got your lights working again. I hate the thought of taking it all apart again but I guess I will have to. I really liked the lights.

My lights are working!

I did absolutely nothing and they came back to life while I was driving the tank around on my snow covered driveway.

Maybe they only work when exposed to low temperatures??

I bought a new light kit from the AAF Tank Museum. It was $12.50.

Admittedly I haven't put the new kit in yet.
