There aren't many women around in Holland (I didn't find one though [;)] ) who 'play' with RC cars, especially the older ones. Let's just say 'they don't understand' [;)] LOL Yhough I am trying to make them understand, I hope they'll get the point of it soon... [:D]

The vintage cars is something very weird that happened to me: I used to say at age 4 or so; "cars are polutors and they are smelly!!!", and I hated them. Good thing I got even smarter later. [:P] I don't know where that 'revolution' came from, but I started liking cars, mainly RC ones. Then the whole story about the LHS on my site (I'm not going to tell that one over and over). I was also very interreseted in my dads 1:1 vintage cars (Frogeye, Saab 95 and many more), so I wanted that too! Then I found a HB and I was completely back and addicted ever since, but now mainly in collecting as I had best of both worlds! [:D]

I must admit: I liked girls at a very early stage (pretty unusual). As you notice with little children, they seperate in groups of boys and girls. But I didn't seem to care [:)] (No, I WAS NOT playing with barbie or something, that's not what I mean.)

I got teased and nagged pretty bad when I was young, nobody liked me. [:(] And if someone did, they would end up in the same boat as I was (and they don't want that). I was always a bit shy and this made matters worse. I was also very smart for my age (so is said) and I think that turned agianst me as well... [xx(] But that was a long time ago and now I have finally resisted against that.

I lately started again now in 'high shool' (I think that similar to what I am in) When someone *******ed me of pretty bad and he thought he could kick me, he got a punch in the face! [:D] He never expected that. [B)] LOL I thought is was kinda funny, until I found out I rammed a teeth out... major LOL for me... [}:)] [:P]

I think it's pretty strange to have a hobby like thisat this age. Some collector were surprised as it's mostly grown up kinds trying to buy their toys back. But hey! I am different and I am proud of it too! [:D] [^] There is one single member I know who is younger than I am, but he isn't really in collecting.

I am going COMPLETELY off-topic and discussing my whole life. [:o] (I TOLD you to stop me... [:o)] ) Now what was this topic about anyway? [:)] Super Champ names...

(Willy, I did collect stamps as well, got a lot of them but I am not really adding anything to it. I collect everything I can think of, I remember having a lot of bottle caps as well... [:)])

Don't sweat it too much, Theo. Its just one of those that keep going around the Web, keeping the geeks amused. And back in my pre-Mosaic uni days (daze?), we engies just swapped jokes via the photocopier. [:I]

(betcha someone's gonna ask... "What's Mosaic?")

Wouldn't worry about that too much, Sjoerd... its a common problem worldwide!! [:)]

But they can be taught... [;)]

Good luck.

Sjoerd, you got soooooooooooo much to learn - you just gotta keep them happy.

Take me for instance, in 5 months I get married, I done everything right, and I get to keep all my stuff.

In storage, 12 miles away.

My Spawn figures are not ornaments, they're toys.

The 2 foot square ceramic frog I have, on a beanbag in my living room, can go in the garden.

Her neighbours will look after my widescreen TV for me.

The sofa I slept on for 6 months 'til I got a TV in my bedroom can have new covers made for it if WE decide to keep it, because it looks too 'laddish' - WTH does that mean?

WE don't really need remote control lights.

Even after all this, I'm gonna keep her - she cooks good and has put up with me for the last four years!

The benefits far outweigh the disadvantages.

And if she ever reads this, my computer had a virus, or was stolen, then returned.[:D]

Just comparing notes here... [;)]

Mine's walking distance.

Just thinking in advance... if/when the family taxi is not available.

Oww.. that'll hurt.

No, that's true.

Like you don't *need* RC cars either.

Imho before the point of no-return... suggest you say "My Dear, my twenty-eight old RC cars are staying put where they are in the bedroom, thank you very much" and see what she says. [:I] Suggest too that the outcome of the "I will/won't" question hinges on it. [;)]

They can stay where they are, no problem - but it means paying 2 mortgages!

Remote control lights are cool, I got 'em in every room and it makes life so much easier - you can turn the kitchen light on before you're anywhere near it, or off if you're sat comfy then remember it's on.

A Philips Pronto TV RC is a must have too!

Yeah I know those big Frogs...

They have many HOP-up options on it!!! ROTFSMPF [:o)]

Last night I moved all the books out of the glass cabinet and filled it with RC stuff.

Does this mean I'm looking for trouble from the missus?[}:)]

Sounds like you guys have some experience that could save me from a nasty accident[V]

So far the method of "inclusion" seems to be working[;)]

I bought 2 Wild Willy 2's and gave one to my girlfriend - she got so in to building it that she now understands why i do too - she also runs the **** out of it but being a WW2 it takes the abuse and keeps on coming.[:D]

Of course I am slightly dubious about the interesting Candy Pink colour she opted for![:X][:X][:X]

Needless to say I have no intention whatsoever of her ever finding out how much these vintage ones seem to cost![:0][:0][:0]

HAHAHA [:D]

When she got the hang of it she'll fill the house with vintage RC emptying YOUR wallet in stead of you emptying hers! [|)] That's a bit opposite worlds, no? I need to find one of those girls I bet, the other ones are all trouble! [;)]

Remote lights are very cool. I have them all over the house. You've reached a new plateau of laziness when you won't move 3 feet (~1M) across the couch to pick up the remote control to turn off the light you left on in the kitchen before flopping on the couch.

I have RC 2 cars displayed in the living areas of the house. My wife grudgingly accepts this. However, she freaks whenever I even think about placing the Juggernaut on the fireplace mantle. Win some lose some.

She uses the remote lights too sometimes. (But never the touchscreens)

Yea yea, I know, digging up 2 year old threads, but this is historical in nature.... let's do the 6 degrees of separation to let you know how I got here.

On a whim, I checked out the member's map, zoomed in on San Jose, CA (which is where I live, BTW) and found Shodog. Checking out Shodog's showroom, I saw that he had a SC, signed by the real Al Ernat. Under the sig is Midnight Motors Models. I did a Google search for his name, and found this site, which lists the cars, drivers and slogans. I also found a reference to this thread. Notice for the SC, the slogan is "Go for It", but what's strange/neat/wierd is the slogan for the Hilux, "Midnight Motors Off Roaders". Is it coincidence, or did Al have more than one finger in the cookie jar?

Al works at D&J hobby. back in the early eighties D&J was a high volume shop that sold a lot of Tamiya. from conversations with Al, Tamiya and D&J were pretty tight. At one point Mr. Tamiya came for a visit.

As far as the Midnight motors connection, I will have to ask Al next time I go to the shop

Cool. I was wondering if he was still around. What's D&J like these days, as far as Tamiya stuff goes? The only local place I go to now is Hobbies Unlimited on Camden. Do you let people come check out your collection? [:)]
