Having decided to go brushless for the Hotshot rebuild (EZRun 4300kV) I now need a 13T pinion to adjust gearing accrodingly.

I was about to press the buy button on the Tamiya Hop-UP 5315001, only to realise it was an aluminium pinion.

Could someone point me in the right direction for a steel pinion, maker and part number if possible.

I think it needs to be 0.8 Module or 32dp (although don't know what these really are to be honest), and 1/8" (3.17mm) shaft diameter.

Thanks

I use these pinions in my M03 and after 3 years, (2years running brushless) , show no wear.

I got mine from Modelsport.co.uk, but they only appear to have the gear you want in a 5mm shaft.

Maybe you can find another stockist or contact them direct.

Many Thanks

I just found a blitzer beetle thread with the same discussion - appears i need the RW3200-13 pinion, but Modelsport no longer supply this in the UK, although they do list a ARW3200-13 against Ansmann Racing, so maybe there's been some merger/buy-out/distribution talks ?!

TA-Mark also suggested the Traxxas TRX-3943 Part, which looks to be the same spec and is available from wheelspinmodels in the UK (fits E Revo, E MAXX and Sash 4x4 models)

I'll check my LHS at lunchtime as they do a fait bit of Traxxas stuff - failing that i'll order either the Anderson or Traxxas item online.

Cheers.

Just to clear that up, it is supplied by ANSMANN racing (Anderson is something else), and it is not a buy-out or anything like that, Ansmann simply repackage RW pinions to sell through the model trade (much as Schumacher do).

RW may be able to supply direct, no harm in contacting them.

Thanks - i editted my post before i saw your correction - my bad !

No luck in the LHS, so have ordered the 'Ansmann' branded one from Modelsport , didn't exactly break the bank at £2.98 !

Just a quick note, I have just ordered 12 of these pinions from modelsport, and the teeth are not as wide as tamiya pinions, so do not use the full width of the teeth on the spur gear to transmit the power. If you're planning on putting silly power through it you might end up chewing slots in your spur gear.

I just ordered the same set up, EZRUN 9T/4300 AND 13T/3000 Motors with the Ansmann 13T pinion gear for my Hotsot re-re. I'm new to this hobby so could you explain to me what you mean when you say not to use the full width of the teeth on the spur gear to transmit power. I know this is probably a question that only a novice would ask, but I want to make sure I do it right.

I think he means the pinion is not as wide as the spur gear, so the area where the teeth mesh doesn't use all the available space on the spur gear. This may cause irregular wear on the spur gear where the teeth mesh as all the power is being transmitted through a smaller area.

Without Hijacking the thread, So Traxxas 32P pinions are made from steel?

Yeah the Traxxas Emaxx 32pitch pinions are steel. I am running several in my cars that originally were .8 mod with different tooth counts.
